Description
Process for the recovery of the sulfur dioxide during the absorption entrained in vapor form by organic bases in the exhaust gases of the absorption process Fraction of organic bases in the absorption of sulfur dioxide from such containing gases, such as. B. roasting gases, by means of organic bases, such as. B. aromatic amines such as aniline, toluidines or xylidines, advantageously using of mixtures of these bases with water z. B. according to the method described in the patents 557 723 and 6o6 447 are known from the exhaust gases of the absorption process certain amounts of the organic bases used as absorbents in vapor form carried along. Despite the generally depending on the height of the boiling point of the as absorbent Organic base used in relatively very small amounts of the on this Bases withdrawn from the absorption process would be lost through the loss of the same After all, the economy of the absorption process is noticeably impaired be, so that it is desirable to have the bases contained therein on any of the exhaust gases Way still to evade.
So far, this has preferably been achieved by washing out the exhaust gases diluted acids achieved. It was necessary to use the resulting solution of the salt the base with the acid in question, the free base by adding a stronger one Base, such as B. by adding sodium carbonate to set free what it could be returned to the absorption process again. Here but in general it will be necessary to keep the remaining washing acid in shape z. B. their sodium salt containing solution for lack of beneficial utilization with loss of both the acid contained therein and the added alkali to repel. Especially when processing gases with a very low Content of SO2 and absorption temperatures above 3o ° can meanwhile, z. B. when using aniline or toluidine as absorbent, those contained in the exhaust gas Amounts of the bases and, accordingly, those for obtaining them from the acidic wash water the quantities of acid and alkali required for the exhaust gases are so great that the aforementioned Loss of acid and alkali in the washing liquid and possibly also the Loss of base remaining in the latter becomes so great that it is also capable is to undesirably increase the economics of the absorption process influence.
In order to avoid the loss of organic bases, one also has the exhaust gas from the absorption process as well as that released from the absorption mixture Sulfur dioxide to break down the sulfates formed in side reactions Organic bases let suitable substances act, with those carried along by the gases Parts of the organic bases are bound. Here, however, substances like the Oxides, hydroxides, carbonates and sulfites of alkalis or ammonium or magnesium related that have only a low capacity for the contained in the exhaust gas Have organic bases that contain a much larger amount of water, if necessary is returned to the absorption system with the bases taken up, require and when they are used, an oxidation of sulfite to sulfate in the absorption liquid becomes necessary.
According to the invention, the listed disadvantages of the known methods become the aftertreatment of the exhaust gases in question is avoided with the best possible result, that the gases the bases contained therein in vapor form in per se known Way by washing with an organic liquid of low vapor pressure, in which the base in question is soluble, withdrawn and then treated by the obtained solution of the base in the organic liquid with sulfur dioxide In the presence of water, the base is converted into the sulfite, which is then in the existing Water goes into solution.
When proceeding in this way, it is possible to manage with an amount of water that is necessary to dissolve the sulfite of the organic base formed during the treatment of the organic solvent laden with base with SO , which is only about 1/4 to 11 , is that which is necessary according to the above-mentioned known method in order to bring it into solution to a large extent by washing out the exhaust gas of the absorption process with a solution of the said inorganic base.
It can therefore use the entire amount of liquid in the present method the absorption mixture are always fed without the risk of too great a There is dilution.
As a suitable treatment liquid according to the new method are for example mentioned high-boiling, advantageously refined mineral oils, e.g. B. such with a boiling point above about 2oo °. Was suitable as excellent z. B. a crude purified paraffin oil with a boiling temperature between 235 ° and 240 ° found.
In general, the viscosity of the liquid present should not be be more than about 2 ° Engler at 50 ° C, as emulsions of water with viscose oils are only relatively difficult to separate.
In general, those coming for treatment according to the invention care for Exhaust gases from the reaction with the water-containing absorption mixture already in this way to be loaded with water vapor that in the washout according to the invention with a organic absorbent is sufficient for the bases contained in the gas Amount of water from the gases is separated again to the subsequent Action of sulfur dioxide on the solution of the base, formed sulfite of the latter to dissolve in this water; should meanwhile the one carried by the gas The amount of water is insufficient for this, or the gas does not contain any water at all, so is the missing or for the dissolution of the sulfite formed of the base overall Required amount of water to the organic solvent before and / or during Adding the effect of sulfur dioxide.
Finally, a mixture of one is obtained in the manner described aqueous solution of the sulfite previously dissolved in the organic liquid organic base with the organic liquid freed from this base, the one can easily separate into its two phases after standing enough.
The organic solvent can then absorb new amounts of base from the exhaust gas of the SO, absorption process be used. the Solution of the sulfite of the organic base and thus the latter can be either also in the aforementioned absorption process by adding to the z. B. from a Reintroduce the mixture of the base in question with water into the existing absorbent, or you can drive out the sulfur dioxide from this solution by heating, reintroduce the remaining base into the absorption process as an absorbent and the remaining water separated from the base again in the treatment of Use base loaded organic solvent with sulfur dioxide. Provided as a result, the amount of water added to the absorption mixture is not undesirable Manner is enlarged, the former method is generally preferable be.
Both the treatment of the exhaust gas from the SO2 absorption process with an organic solvent for the vapor contained in these exhaust gases organic base as well as the treatment of the resulting solution of the base in the organic solvent with sulfur dioxide takes place in the presence of water with the advantage that the liquid or liquids are spread over a large area the flow of the gaseous reaction component counteracts. For this one uses appropriate washing towers of a known type, through which the gases flow from bottom to top be while the liquid or the liquid mixture from top to bottom is passed in the largest possible area, as it is known in Way z. B. is available by in empty towers the liquid z. Am In the form of a rain it can fall or in packed towers it over fillers or distribution body can trickle down. Also towers with sieve or bubble cap bottoms of the type customary in distillation columns and mechanical scrubbers, e.g. B. so-called Ströder-Wäscher (patent specification 4o9 844), can be used for the same purpose.
That for dissolving the absorbed bases from the organic solvent Sulfur dioxide used is expediently in the most concentrated form possible, z. B. as it is when the mixture of organic base loaded with SO2 is heated with water in the absorption process to obtain sulfur dioxide from such containing gases is obtained for use.
Xylidin aufgeladen ablief. The solution to be subjected to the treatment with sulfur dioxide organic base in the organic solvent is beneficial before exposure of sulfur dioxide, e.g. B. before the task on the one used for this action Washing tower, emulsified by stirring with the water to be added to the tower at the same time. Examples 1. The 0.2 percent by volume of S 02 in addition to 15 percent by volume of oxygen (remainder Nitrogen) containing exhaust gas using a mixture of technical Raw-. toluidine or technical raw xylidine with water-working system for absorption of sulfur dioxide, from a roasting gas, was produced at a rate of i m3 each Minute passed from bottom to top through a washing tower, through the over Bell bottoms from top to bottom crude purified paraffin oil with a boiling point between 235 and 2q.0 ° flowed, so that it was charged below with toluidine or xylidine expired.
The base content of the gas when it entered this scrubbing tower was 3 to 4. g of toluidine per cubic meter or 2 to 6.6 g of xylidine per cubic meter. As a result of the condensation of water in the tower from the gases loaded with water vapor during the treatment with the absorption mixture for S 02, part of the base in the tower did not go into the paraffin oil, but into the condensed water, in which it was about 7o to 8o O f, when sulfite (due to the residual S 02 content of the gas) was dissolved.
Sie sollte bei Absorption von Toluidin aus dem Abgas des Absorptionsprozesses vorteilhaft i 'feil Wasser auf .I, höchstens 3 Teile Öl betragen und bei Verwendung von Xylidin etwa i Teil Wasser auf .4 Teile, höchstens 2,5 Teile Öl.Depending on the type of base used, the amount of water to be used in the treatment of the organic liquid laden with base with sulfur dioxide will expediently have to be measured differently. If toluidine is absorbed from the exhaust gas of the absorption process, it should advantageously be 1 part water to .I, at most 3 parts oil , and if xylidine is used, it should be about 1 part water to .4 parts, at most 2.5 parts oil.
Paraffin oil was used according to Example i to wash off exhaust gas from the absorption of sulfur dioxide carried out by means of a mixture of toluidine with water and was charged with 32 g of toluidine per liter. z 17 1 of this 051s with a total content of 3,; IIcg of toluidine were mixed with 291 of an aqueous condensate obtained by washing out the gas with paraffin oil with a content of 61 g of toluidine per liter, i.e. h: with a total of 1.771 g toluidine. emulsified. This emulsion was poured over a tower which had been leveled with random packings, through which 100% liquid field violet was passed from bottom to top. After the emulsion which had run off from the tower had settled, this 150% oil resulted in only 1.0 g of toluidine ini liter, in total with 0.12 kg of toluidine, and 34.1 of an aqueous solution with i54 g of toluidine per liter, ini a total of 3.2.1 kg of toluidine.
A total of 3.36 kg of toluidine, i.e. 1i. 981; o the one with the applied C11 and the aqueous condensate introduced 5.3 kg of toluidine.
