Heating device for platen printing presses For many on the platen printing press
Work to be carried out, in particular those of the embossing type, it is necessary to
the pressure or. Embossing form or the embossing plate painstakingly adjustable, as constant as possible
To give a temperature that is approximately close to the boiling point. This happens
usually in that between the pressure foundation and the pressure or embossing plate
one provided with electrical resistance heating, the size of the pressure foundation
approximately corresponding heating plate: is switched on, which expediently at the same time
serves as a carrier for the embossing plate. Because of the often high pressures in such embossing work
occur between the pressure platen and the embossing plate or pressure foundation, it is necessary to
that the entire surface of the heating plate also has a firm support on the pressure foundation
the press finds. From this there arises the difficulty that because of the great mass of iron
this foundation and thus the entire press an undesirable, even sometimes
harmful derivation of the insignificant energy consumption in the heating plate: generated
Heat takes place, which greatly degrades the overall efficiency of such devices
will. Try to dissipate this heat by inserting poor heaters
reduce, have not led to any success, because that for such thermal insulation
The materials in question are never suitable for the compressive stress that occurs
have the required strength.-The invention aims at this at least useless,
but always economically harmful heat dissipation from the heating plate to the pressure foundation
to avoid that the heating plate is not rigid, but with the interposition
your under spring action - parallel guide movably counter to. about -that
Pressure foundation is arranged. In this way, purity of the body arises between the two
insulating layer of air that is only present at the moment of the actual embossing process
after overcoming the spring action
disappears so that the heating plate
now rests in full area on the pressure foundation, what, but one in proportion
z6 of the duration of the entire work cycle takes up only a very short time. Immediately
after the end of the pressure, the heating plate is removed by the spring action
again from the foundation, so that the insulating layer of air arises again. on
this way the heating plate is used during most of the work,
but especially when heating up; almost entirely from the bad heat conductor
Surrounding air, which means that the heat emission is reduced to the point of insignificance
Lead and at the same time brings about a significant improvement in efficiency.
in größerem Maßstabe. .The drawing shows Fig: i an example of execution forums
the new heating plate arrangement in connection with a conventional nail printing press
and Figs. 2 and 3 show an embodiment of the heating plate with its resilient parallel guide
on a larger scale. .
The press frame i carries the pressure foundation, which is usually positioned vertically
2, against which the pressure surface of the crucible 3 moves in a known manner. Parallel
the heating plate 4 is arranged for the print foundation 2, here for the sake of simplicity
serves as the carrier of the embossing plate 5 at the same time. The rectangular shape of the
Pressure foundation corresponding heating plate 4 carries guide bolts approximately in the vicinity of the corners
6, which slide in corresponding holes in the foundation 2. The bolts 6 form
at the same time the guide for coil springs 7, which are thermally insulating with the interposition of
Rings 8 act on the heating plate ¢, namely the -'ätt that they strive to
remove the heating plate from the foundation 2 as far as .es the `washers 9 and
Allow closing rings io of the guide pins 6. In this way arises between
the heating plate 4, whose power supply is indicated at i i, and the surface
of the foundation 2 an air space 12, as can be seen from FIGS. i and 3. This
Air space disappears; if, as in Fig. 2, the heating plate 4 is during the printing process
must lay firmly on the foundation 2. If the crucible returns from printing, it follows
during part of its parallel movement the heating plate, as far as the stop rings
Allow g and io, whereby the air layer 12 is again formed.
