Description
- Die Erfindung betrifft eine siegelbare und abziehbare Polymerzusammensetzung, ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der Zusammensetzung und daraus hergestellte Filme, Folien und laminierte und beschichtete Produkte.
- In der Verpackungsindustrie ist es üblich, daß ein Produkt in einen Plastikfilm oder eine starre Plastikverpackung gepackt und die Verpackung heißgesiegelt wird. Die Versiegelung muß eine ausreichende mechanische Festigkeit aufweisen, damit bei Lagerung und Transport die Eigenschaften der dichten Versiegelung erhalten bleiben. Es ist erforderlich, daß die Verpackung ohne Zerstörung des darin befindlichen Produkts geöffnet werden kann, aber in zunehmendem Maße muß es auch möglich sein, die Verpackung zu öffnen, ohne den Zusammenhang des Filmes selbst zu zerstören. Die Versiegelung muß durch Ziehen mit den Händen ohne Scheren oder andere Geräte leicht zu öffnen sein; die Versiegelung muß abziehbar sein. Die Verpackung kann auch nach dem Öffnen beispielsweise als Servier- oder Aufwärmteller (Joghurt, Lebensmittel für Mikrowellengeräte) verwendet werden oder das ganze Produkt wird nicht sofort entfernt, sondern in der geöffneten Verpackung aufbewahrt (Bonbons, Getreideprodukte).
- Die abziehbare Versiegelung kann als Versiegelung oder Verbindung zwischen zwei Filmen oder Folien, die durch Heißsiegeln oder Impulsschweißen hergestellt wurde, definiert werden; die so gebildete Verbindung hat die Eigenschaft, sich durch Ziehen mit den Händen öffnen zu lassen. Die Versiegelung kann zwischen zwei Filmen oder zwei Folien oder zwischen einem Film oder einer Folie und irgendeinem Träger bestehen. In Abhängigkeit von dem Träger kann manchmal eine Klebeschicht zwischen den Schichten des Films oder der Folie erforderlich sein.
- Mit der Entwicklung der Verpackungstechnik hat die Verwendung von abziehbaren Versiegelungen in verschiedenen Verpackungen mehr Verbreitung gefunden. Ein besonderer Bedarf besteht in der Lebensmittelindustrie mit Anwendungen in allen Bereichen, zum Beispiel Molkereiprodukte (Käse, Joghurt), gefrorene Lebensmittelprodukte, Fertigmahlzeiten, Lebensmittel in Dosen, Fleisch und Fleischprodukte, verschiedene Imbiß- und Süßwarenverpackungen. Fertigmahlzeiten und Lebensmittel in Dosen, die hauptsächlich in Mikrowellengeräten erwärmt werden, sind eine sehr schnell wachsende Gruppe.
- In abziehbaren Zusammensetzungen wurde üblicherweise als eine Komponente Polybutylen und als eine andere Komponente ein Ethylenpolymer, meist Ethylenvinylacetat-Copolymer (E/VA) oder Polyethylen niedriger Dichte (LDPE) verwendet. Auch Polypropylen kann den Zusammensetzungen zugefügt werden. Beispielsweise ist im US-Patent 4,759,9ß4 eine Polymerzusammensetzung angegeben, deren Hauptbestandteil E/VA (75-92 Gew.- %), dem geringe Mengen von Polybutylen (6-25 Gew.-%) und Polypropylen (2-15 Gew.-%) beigemischt wurden. Polyamid oder Polycarbonat sind die bestgeeigneten Träger.
- In der Patentveröffentlichung EP-A-213 698 wird eine Zusammensetzung angegeben, die aus mehr als 50 Gew.-% Polybutylen sowie Polypropylen und einem Ethylenpolymer (EVA, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE) besteht. Die Polymermischung des Patents EP-B-178 061 enthält 65 - 85 Gew.-% Ethylenhomo- oder copolymer (vorzugsweise LDPE oder EVA), 5 - 30 Gew.-% Polybutylen und 3 - 15 Gew.-% Propylenpolymer.
- In der Patentveröffentlichung EP-A-196 727 wird eine Mehrschichtstruktur angegeben, in der eine Schicht aus einem Polymergemisch mit 65 - 95 Gew.-% linearem Polyethylen niedriger Dichte (LLDPE) und 5 - 35 Gew.-% Polypropylen und/ oder Polyisobutylen besteht.
- Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, eine neue siegelbare und abziehbare Polymerzusammensetzung zu schaffen. Die erfindungsgemäße Polymerzusammensetzung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie eine Mischung aus 5 - 35, vorzugsweise 15 - 25 Gew.-% mit Styrol gepfropftes Ethylencopolymer und 95 - 65, vorzugsweise 85 - 75 Gew.-% Ethylen-Butylacrylat-Copolymer ist. Das Ethylencopolymer ist bevorzugt Ethylen-Butylacrylat oder Ethylen- Vinylacetat-Copolymer. Der Gehalt an Butylacrylat im Ethylen- Butylacrylat-Copolymer kann 5 - 30, bevorzugt 16 - 18 Gew.-% sein. Der Vinylacetatgehalt im Ethylen-Vinylacetat-Copolymer ist 10 - 30 Gew.-%.
- Das Ethylen-Copolymer kann mittels aller üblichen Pfropfmethoden mit Styrol modifiziert werden; oder vorzugsweise durch Tränken des Ethylenpolymers mit Styrol und einem radikalbildenden Initiator und anschließende Polymerisation bei einer erhöhten Temperatur. Das Tränken kann ohne Wasser, durch Zusatz von etwas Wasser oder durch Zusatz von Wasser, nachdem mehr als die Hälfte des Styrols in die Polyolefinpartikel eingedrungen ist oder während der gesamten Zeit in Gegenwart großer Mengen von Wasser erfolgen. Die Polymerisation wird in wässriger Suspension durchgeführt. Ein bevorzugtes Verfahren für die Modifikation mit Styrol ist in den finnischen Patenten 85496, 86642 und 88170 beschrieben. Der Styrolgehalt im modifizierten Ethylencopolymer ist 10 - 70 Gew.-%, bevorzugt 40 - 60 Gew.-%.
- Die Polymerzusammensetzung wird durch übliche Mischverfahren wie Schmelzvermischung in Ein- oder Zweischneckenextrudern oder in flanburymischern hergestellt. Auch Trockenvermengen kann angewendet werden.
- Die Polymerzusammensetzung kann auch kleine Mengen üblicher Polymeradditive wie Antioxidantien, Antiblockingmittel und Antistatikmittel enthalten.
- Die erfindungsgemäße Zusammensetzung kann für die Herstellung von üblichen Verpackungen mit abziehbaren Versiegelungen verwendet werden. Man kann aus der Polymerzusammensetzung geblasene oder gegossene Filme oder Folien und laminierte und beschichtete Produkte herstellen, die abziehbar sind. Es lassen sich auch Mehrschichtstrukturen, in denen eine Schicht aus einem Film oder einer Folie dieser Zusammensetzung besteht, herstellen. Kennzeichnend für die erfindungsgemäßen Produkte ist es, daß sie eine sehr hohe Hitzebeständigkeit bei der Verarbeitung haben, was äußerst bevorzugt bei der Beschichtung durch Koextrusion ist.
- Das hier beschriebene abziehbare Material kann auf übliche Materialien für bei Verpackungen benutzte Becher oder Tabletts gesiegelt werden, wie Polypropylen, Polyethylen, Polystyrol und PVC. Auch mit Kunststoff, beispielsweise Polyethylen, beschichtetes Kartonpapier kann benutzt werden.
- In den folgenden Beispielen wird die Erfindung genauer beschrieben.
- Es wurden die Abziehtemperaturen und Siegelfestigkeiten der erfindungsgemäßen Polymerzusammensetzung untersucht. Extrusionsbeschichtungen, geblasene Filme und gegossene Filme wurdßn verwendet. Die folgenden Kunststoffmaterialien wurden in den Versuchen verwendet:
- LD-Polyethylen = NCPE 4524
- HD-Polyethylen = NCPE 1910
- Ethylen-Butylacrylat-Copolymer, E/BA = NCPE 6417, 17 % Acrylat Polypropylen, PP = VB 8052C
- Ethylen-Vinylacetat-Copolymer, E/VA = NCPE 5118, 18 % Vinylacetat
- E/BA mit Styrol gepfropft, SEBA = NCPE 5470, Styrolgehalt 50 %
- E/VA mit Styrol gepfropft = SEVA, Styrolgehalt 50 %
- Alle oben genannten Materialien werden von Neste Chemicals hergestellt. Die wichtigsten Eigenschaften sind in Tabelle 1 angegeben. Tabelle 1. Eigenschaften der Materialien
- In einer Beloit-Extrusions-Beschichtungsvorrichtung wurde eine Reihe von Versiegelungsproben hergestellt. Die Temperatur betrug 320 ºC für Polyethylen (LDPE) und 280 ºC für die abziehbaren Gemische. Die Geschwindigkeit betrug 100 m/min Die LDPE Schicht war 15 g/m² und die abziehbare Schicht 25 g/m² dick.
- Die Versiegelungsproben waren wie folgt:
- 1. Papier / LDPE / 90 % E/BA + 10 % SEVA
- 2. Papier / LDPE / 85 % E/BA + 15 % SEVA
- 3. Papier / LDPE / 80 % E/BA + 20 % SEVA
- 4. Papier / LDPE / 90 % E/BA + 10 % SEBA
- 5. Papier / LDPE / 85 % E/BA + 15 % SEBA
- 6. Papier / LDPE / 80 % E/BA + 20 % SEBA
- Aus den Proben wurden Deckel von 75 mm Durchmesser geschnitten und mit einer KOPP-Laborversiegelungsmaschine auf Polypropylen- und Polystyrolbecher gesiegelt. Es wurden sogenannte Flachbecher-Siegelköpfe verwendet. Die Siegelzeit war 0,5 sec. und der Druck 0,5 N/mm². Die Ergebnisse sind in den Tabellen 2 und 3 angegeben. Aus den Ergebnissen in Tabelle 2 ist ersichtlich, daß bei der Versiegelung auf Polypropylenbecher mit steigendem EBA-Gehalt die Siegelfestigkeit abnimmt, während die Abziehbarkeit sich verbessert. Aus den Ergebnissen in Tabelle 3 ist ersichtlich, daß mit Polystyrolbechern die Siegelfestigkeiten geringer als mit Polypropylenbechern sind, aber die Festigkeiten auch bei Erhöhung der Versiegelungstemperatur gleich bleiben. Für Polypropylenbecher ist der Temperaturbereich, bei dem die Versiegelung abziehbar ist, etwa 140 - 160 ºC; für Polystyrolbecher etwa 120 - 160 ºC. Der Temperaturbereich hängt von der Zusammensetzung der Polymermischung ab. Tabelle 2. Extrusionsbeschichtung, Polypropylenbecher. Siegelbarkeit und Siegelfestigkeit. Tabelle 3. - 20 Gew.-% mit Styrolpfropfpolymerisiertes Ethylen- Butylacrylat-Copolymer (SEBA) und 80 Gew.-% Ethylen-Butylacrylat-Copolymer (E/BA) wurden trocken gemischt. Mit einer Reifenhäuser-Blasfilmmaschine wurde ein zweischichtiger Film hergestellt, welcher HD-Polyethylen (NCPE 1910) als Unterschicht und die oben genannte Polymermischung als abziehbare Schicht hatte. Die Dicke der Unterschicht war 150 µm und die Dicke der abziehbaren Schicht 30 µm. Das Reckverhältnis beim Filmblasen war 2,5. Das Temperaturprofil war bei dem HD-Polyethylen-Extruder 190-210-210-220-220-220-220-220 und bei dem Extruder für die abziehbare Mischung 150-170-170-180-190-220- 220-220, während die Temperatur in der Spritzform 220 ºC betrug.
- Aus den Filmen wurden Deckel mit 75 mm Durchmesser geschnitten und mit einer KOPP-Laborsiegelmaschine mit einem profilierten Bechersiegelkopf (Profiltiefe 0,1 mm, Breite 1,2 mm) gesiegelt. Die Siegelzeit war 0,5 sec. und der Siegeldruck 0,5 N/mm². Der Temperaturbereich für die Abziehbarkeit bei Polypropylenbechern war 195 - 210 ºC. Die Öffnungskraft war 5 - 9 N. Genauere Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle 4 angegeben. Tabelle 4. Geblasener Film. Siegelbarkeit und Siegelfestigkeit.
- 20 Gew.-% mit Styrol gepfropftes Ethylen-Butylacrylat-Copolymer (SEBA) und 80 Gew.-% Ethylen-Butylacrylat-Copolymer (E/BA) wurden trocken gemischt. Mit einer ER-WE-PA-Filmgießvorrichtung wurde ein zweischichtiger Film hergestellt, der als Unterschicht Polypropylen (VB 8052C) und als abziehbare Schicht die oben genannte Polymermischung hatte. Die Unterschicht war 35 µm und die abziehbare Schicht 15 µm dick. Das Temperaturprofil des Polypropylenextruders war 190-200-210-220-230-230 und die Temperatur in der Spritzform war 240 ºC. Das Temperaturprofil in dem Extruder für die abziehbare Schicht war 190- 200-200-205-210-210 und die Temperatur in der Spritzform 219 ºC.
- Die Abziehbarkeit des Films wurde geprüft, indem der Film mit einer KOPP-Laboratoriums-Siegelmaschine mit einem flachen Siegelkopf auf sich selbst gesiegelt wurde. Der Siegelkopf war 10 mm breit. Der Temperaturbereich für die abziehbaren Versiegelungen war 80 - 110 ºC. Genauere Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle 5 angegeben. Tabelle 5 Gegossener Film. Siegelbarkeit und Siegelfestigkeit.
Claims (10)
1. Siegelbare und abziehbare
Polymerzusammensetzung,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie 5 - 35
Gew.-% mit Styrol gepfroptes Ethylencopolymer und 95 - 35
Gew.-% Ethylen-Butylacrylat-Copolymer enthält.
2. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß sie 15 - 25 Gew.-% mit Styrol
gepfropftes Ethylencopolymer und 85 - 75 Gew.-% Ethylen-
Butylacrylat-Copolymer enthält.
3. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß das Ethylencopolymer
Ethylen-Butylacrylat-Copolymer mit 5 - 30 Gew.-%
Butylacrylat ist.
4. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1 bis 3, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß das Ethylencopolymer
Ethylen-Vinylacetat-Copolymer mit 10 - 30 Gew.-%
Vinylacetat ist.
5. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß das Ethylen-Butylacetat-
Copolymer 16 - 18 Gew.-% Butylacrylat enthält.
6. Zusammensetzung nach einem der vorangehenden Ansprüche,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der
Styrolgehalt im gepfropften Ethylencopolymer 10 - 70 Gew.-%
beträgt.
7. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 6, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß der Styrolgehalt im
gepfropften Ethylencopolymer 40 - 60 Gew.-% beträgt.
8. Verfahren zur Herstellung einer siegelbaren und
abziehbaren Polymerzusammensetzung, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß 5 - 35 Gew.-% mit Styrol
gepfropftes Ethylencopolymer und 95 - 65 Gew.-% Ethylen-
Butylacrylat-Copolymer durch Vermischen in geschmolzener
Phase oder trockenes Vermengen gemischt werden.
9. Film oder Folie für die Verpackung, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß er/sie aus einer
Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1 - 7 hergestellt ist.
10. Schichtstruktur, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß eine Schicht in dem Film oder in der Folie aus
einer Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1 - 7 hergestellt ist.
