Dies war in vielen Fällen der Anlaß einer vorzeitigen Beeinträchtigung der Dichthaltefähigkeit der Ventilsitzfläche, die vielfach zu frühzeitiger Zerstörung des Ventils führte. Besonders ungünstig wirkte sich diese Schweißfuge deshalb aus, weil sie in derselben Richtung verlief, in der die Durch-Strömung des Gas-Luft-Gemisches erfolgt und so bei geschlossenem Ventil ein unerwünschter Durchtritt von Gasen nach verhältnismäßig kurzer Betriebszeit unvermeidlich war.
