Description
Process for the aftertreatment of fully tanned leathers In the main patent 660 770 a tanning process with water-insoluble phosphates of metals, the compounds of which have a tanning effect, dissolved in oxalic acid, is protected. I.a. it is described there that one can achieve particularly good results when pelts are pretanned with vegetable tanning agents or sulfite cellulose extract and then finish-tanned with aluminum phosphate in an oxalic acid solution. In this way, leather with a very good cut and a high level of stability is obtained, in which the unbound vegetable tanning agent or other pretanning agent is largely fixed.
In the main patent it is also described that one can also use finished tanned Leathers of different tanning by post-treatment with water-insoluble, dissolved in oxalic acid, tanning metal phosphates can achieve special effects.
It has been used in further elaboration of the retanning process Ready-tanned leather proved to be beneficial to use tanning solutions that in addition to the water-insoluble, tanning metal phosphates dissolved in oxalic acid nor substances that increase the elasticity of the grain, such as grape sugar, sulfite cellulose extract and water soluble fats.
The impregnation with the oxalic acid solution of the water-insoluble Metal phosphate and the substance to increase elasticity. of scarring can possibly also another impregnation with known impregnation agents, z. B. colloidal silica, can be connected.
The claimed method has the. great advantage that thereby the The air permeability of the leather is not impaired and that the water tightness : is increased.
Some embodiments of the method are shown in the examples. EXAMPLE II Oo kg of neutralized and flashed chrome leather are drummed for one hour with a solution of 14.5 l of water, 5.5 kg of aluminum phosphate (anhydrous), 4.0 kg of oxalic acid (crystalline) and 6.0 kg of sulfite cellulose extract with 440 l0 tannin until all of the broth is absorbed. The leathers are stored on the trestle overnight and then post-treated with a solution of 10 kg of sodium acetate and 10 1 of water for fixation. EXAMPLE 2 100 kg of moist and ventilated tan or sulphite cellulose lower leather are treated with a solution of 7.31 of water, 2.7 kg of aluminum phosphate (anhydrous), 2, okg; oxalic acid (crystalline) and 3, okg of sulphite cellulose extract with 44% tannin Milled until all of the broth is absorbed. The leathers are stored on the trestle overnight, then lightly oiled on the grain and dried. 'Example 3 Dry chrome sole leather is in a solution of i 7 parts. Ferrous phosphate (10% strength ), 18 parts of oxalic acid, 36 parts of water at 60 ° C, 18 parts of ammonia solution (10%) and ii parts of glucose immersed for 2 hours, stored on the trestle overnight, then oiled on both sides , dried and prepared as usual.
