Diesem Übelstand wurde durch Unterteilung der Schleifschuhe Rechnung getragen, indem diese lediglieh quer geschlitzt oder in einzelne senkrecht verschiebbare Stücke aufgeteilt wurden. Hierbei war nicht berücksichtigt, daß auch das Magnetjoch, d. h. der Kern mit den beiden Seitenwangen, einerseits durch die Magnetspule und andererseits durch Wärmeübertragung von den Schleif schuhen her eine Erwärmung erfährt. Das Magnetjoch hat gegenüber den Schleif schuhen eine bedeutend größere Masse und einen sehr viel größeren Querschnitt und ist demnach für das Maß des Verziehens ausschlaggebend. Versuche, durch bewegliches Anbringen der Schleifschuhe oder Schleifschuhteile am Joch diesem Übel abzuhelfen, haben in dieser Richtung einen gewissen Erfolg gebracht, jedoch den Übergang des magnetischen Kraftflusses durch zu große Luftspalte um so viel verschlechtert, daß der erwartete Bremskr'aftgewinn ausblieb. Man hat hiernach versucht, die Verbindung zwischen dem Joch und den Schleifschuhen durch Unterteilung des Joches nebst den Schleifschuhen möglichst fest zu machen.
