Method of making a heat dissipating glass The invention
relates to a method of making heat dissipating glass. This
can be of advantage, in addition to other areas of application, particularly in the electrical industry
used for this purpose, the resulting in the apparatus and machine windings
Effective heat dissipation to the outside and the windings with a fireproof
Provide isolation.
As can be seen from LandoltlBörnstein's physico-chemical tables, quartz crystals have a coefficient of thermal conductivity of 0.0325 parallel to the axis at 0 ° and 0.0173 perpendicular to the axis - Jenaer Glas, on the other hand, has a coefficient of thermal conductivity of 0.08, quartz glass 0.0033 and mirror glass one of only 0100179. So you can see that quartz crystals have about ten to r5 times better thermal conductivity than homogeneous glass masses. This invention makes use of this knowledge to create a glass mass which has a high coefficient of thermal conductivity.
According to the invention for producing a heat-dissipating glass
Ouarz crystals which remain crystalline are used, which are embedded in a glass flux
are. The glass flows used are in particular those with a large amount of light liquid, in particular
Lead silicates with the cleaned and possibly stripped in hydrofluoric acid and
possibly preheated quartz crystals in the state of the greatest thin liquid
be mixed up. Appropriately, this is done in the following way: In the to be poured
Quartz crystals are sprinkled in the shape, the shape and the crystals are heated, the
Poured in liquid glass and then sprinkled with constantly preheated, cleaned crystals
and pressed into the mass under pressure. The condensed one
Glass melt flow
must be heated continuously, until the mass is saturated.
In this way it is possible; gradually a compression of up to 8o1 / 0 crystals
with only: 2o / o glass bond to be established.
das erfindungsgemäße Glas geeignet als Isolierung für die Einschmelzung von Spulen;
Since quartz crystals with S to 15 heat ohms and glass with about 8o to 130 heat ohms can be assumed, with a mixture of both, depending on the proportion, the heat resistance of the mixture named in the following quartz crystal composite glass can be reduced to well below 5o lt. This low thermal resistance makes the glass according to the invention suitable as insulation for melting coils; which are wound from glass wool or glass wool yarn-wrapped coil conductors and poured (sheathed) into a mold for the purpose of insulation. It can be used wherever it is important to dissipate the resulting heat to the outside as quickly as possible. as is the case with the various types of winding occurring in electrical engineering, particularly in machine and transformer construction.
Nimmt man ruhendes Transformatoröl
werden:If lead glasses are generally three times more thermally conductive than air, then the quartz laminated glass is more than 100 times. If you assume stationary transformer oil with Soo thermal resistance, then the quartz crystal composite glass with around 40 lt is even 2 times better. The glass according to the invention even surpasses the quartz compound according to Prof. D r. M e ner still four times as much. other known glasses in which glass grains, so no quartz crystals; are added to the glass flux, have thermal conductivity values in the order of magnitude of the glass fluxes used. With these glasses it is therefore not possible to achieve approximately the same technical effect as with the quartz crystal composite glass according to the invention. The main advantage of the invention lies in the large heat spread. This is achieved in that the quartz crystal added to the glass flux retains its crystal shape when it is fused together or sintered together. As a result of the excellent heat dissipation, this glass is particularly suitable as an insulating material in electrical engineering, in particular as an insulator for glass-insulated coil conductors; electric glass heater, etc. Of course, all of the artistic effects known in @ glass technology can be achieved with Ouarz crystal composite glass. Another important advantage is the achievable savings in insulating material. While a saving of 40% of the coil conductor material was possible with the previous quartz grain pound, a saving of up to 50% can be achieved with the glass according to the invention:
