Bevor der Stoff durch die Klammern auf der Klammerplatte festgelegt wird, tritt mit der Vorrichtung gemäß der Erfindung eine automatische Regulierung der seitlichen Verstellung der Klammerplatten ein, so daß die durch den am Messerblockhalter vorgesehenen Nocken bewirkte Ausbreitung der Klammern bei fest angedrücktem Stoff durch die vorher bewirkte seitliche Verschiebung der Klammerplatten beeinflußt wird. Dies geschieht hierbei einerseits gleichmäßig für beide Klammerplatten und anderseits automatisch in Abhängigkeit von der Stärke des untergelegten Stoffes. Denn bei einer starken Stofflage kann sich der Klammerarm nur wenig nach unten bewegen, so daß durch den Nocken am Messerblocklialter sich eine starke Ausbreitung ergibt, während der Klammerarm bei einer dünnen Stofflage eine größere Abwärtsbewegung ausführen muß, was zur Folge hat, daß die Klammerplatten in einem ebenfalls stärkeren Maße aus der Mitte auseinandergeschoben werden, bevor der Stoff durch die Klammerarme an der Platte festgelegt wird.
