Description

Process for the production of tissue paper It is known that the so-called Japanese papers made of very firm, fine and long-fiber, soft cellulose, obtained from the bast and the bark of the various species of the mulberry bush are made from Kodzo, Mitsumata and Gampi fibers with the addition of mucilage manufactured. These Japanese papers have so far been indispensable for some special purposes been. So one has z. B. for the production of permanent stencils for duplication purposes, also for cosmetic papers such as powder and make-up papers, so far exclusively processed such Japanese papers.

Natural fibers or pulps with similar properties are not available or manufacturable in European countries.

It has now been found that tissue papers similar to Japanese papers can be produced can be produced by placing short-staple rayon in water containing mucilage 'floated up and immediately processed into paper without grinding.

It has already been suggested to use rayon or rayon waste paper or to produce blotting paper. Apart from the fact that there is artificial silk it on its own, be it as an admixture to rags or other cellulose various findings have proven to be unsuitable for such purposes, is here in all cases the artificial silk has been ground in the Dutchman in the usual way. There the artificial silk fibers do not show any fibrillation when they are milled in the hollander, the negative result of such attempts is understandable.

Such papers, especially those containing hydrate cellulose, are also available glued in a very specific way, e.g. B. with hydrolytically cleavable, basic aluminum salts o. d-1., but here too the fiber has been ground in the Hollander or is from finished paper made from ground fibers.

B. Viscose-, Kupferoxydammoniak- u. a. B. o,o5 g in 11 Wasser. In contrast to these usual methods of papermaking, according to the method of the invention for the production of tissue paper, which can serve as a substitute for Japanese paper, sufficiently short cut, ie short staple fine fiber rayon, z. B. Viscose-, Kupferoxydammoniak- and other rayon, without processing them in the Dutchman, ie to grind, processed directly into paper in a highly diluted aqueous suspension with the addition of mucilage. The following mucilages, which favor the felting of the fibers, are used, for example: methyl cellulose, linseed slime, tragacanth in small amounts of z. B. o, o5 g in 1 1 water. It is advantageous to add water-soluble or water-emulsifiable plasticizers to the water; such as turkish oil, glycerine, glycol and oil emulsions, to be added: Of course, small amounts of other fibrous materials can be added to such tissue papers during their manufacture. The papers thus created are in and of themselves; Just like the Japanese papers, although they contain mucilage, they are permeable to water and air. The best way to manufacture the papers is by hand-scooping, but you can also get good results on the usual paper machines.

The tissue papers produced according to the invention also show externally a texture that comes surprisingly close to Japanese paper and cannot be achieved by other tissue papers produced in the usual way can.
