beschleunigenden Kühlwänden atomaren Wasserstoff enthaltenden Wasserstoff herzustellen.
Process for the production of cold hydrogen containing atomic hydrogen Patent specification 607 115 describes a process for producing hydrogen containing atomic hydrogen by quenching highly heated hydrogen on cooling walls which do not accelerate the reunification of hydrogen atoms. The yield of atomic hydrogen depends essentially on the quality of the cooling walls and on the fact that these walls can be attached as close as possible to the heating device. So far only phosphoric acid and water as well as phosphoric anhydride have been known as anti-catalysts. The use of these substances can easily lead to malfunctions if a tungsten coil is used as a heating source. It is known that even very small amounts of water vapor destroy tungsten. A significant improvement in the process means that substances have been found which also have a strong anti-catalytic effect, and that a method has been found to coat any material with a layer of these substances. The new process is also applicable to phosphoric acid and allows the use of phosphoric anhydride to be avoided. The practically important advantages of the process are that you now have a selection of different substances to produce anti-catalytic coatings on any materials. In the course of further development of the process it has been found that it is advisable to avoid the use of phosphorus pentoxide. The reasons for this are that even phosphorus pentoxide is gradually reduced by higher concentrations of atomic hydrogen and compounds that damage the tungsten filament are formed.
It has been found that primary and secondary phosphates and sulfates, such as disodium phosphate or potassium bisulfate, also have a strong anti-catalytic effect. Compared to the use of phosphoric acid, these compounds have the advantage that metallic materials are not exposed to attack by free acid. But even with non-metallic materials such as glass or quartz, the phosphoric acid chemically attacks the surface at higher temperatures. Another advantage of using the salts mentioned is that the cooling walls can be coated with the anti-catalytic layer with very little heating or without any heating, so that this coating can now also be applied after the apparatus has been assembled, which is after previous procedure was impossible:
To put the antikataly on the cooling walls
To apply a layer, you can use it with "
Wet the solution of these substances and evaporate the water contained therein under ordinary or reduced pressure; in the latter case, heating can be dispensed with altogether. Instead of the solutions of individual salts, it is also possible to use solutions of mixtures of the salts mentioned and in any desired composition with or without the addition of phosphoric acid. However, in the presence of phosphoric acid, dehydration must take place at an elevated temperature. The adhesive strength of the coating can be increased by heating it to several hundred degrees, possibly red-hot, if the materials and the structure of the equipment allow it. This treatment is particularly advantageous when using phosphoric acid.
