Die Vorrichtung bezweckt, Koch- und andere Töpfe leicht vom Feuer zu heben, festzuhalten und zu transportiren. Der Topfheber besteht aus zwei gleichartigen, mittelst der Schlitze SS¹ in einander geschobenen Theilen. Jeder dieser Theile ist folgendermafsen gestaltet:The pot lifter consists of two similar parts pushed into one another by means of the slots SS ^1. Each of these parts is designed as follows:

Das Verbindungsstück hat oben an der Stange einen Durchlafs 5 für die Stange A¹, und umgekehrt hat das Verbindungsstück F¹ einen Durchlafs S¹ für die Stange A, so dafs beide Theile in einander geschoben werden können. Der Greifer B besteht, wie aus Fig. 2 ersichtlich, aus einem halbkreisförmigen Flacheisen, welches an den Enden mit etwas in die Höhe gebogenen Zähnen versehen ist,' damit der Topf besser gefafst wird. Der schlitzförmige Durchlafs S und S^l ist im Innern mit einem Zahn Z und Z^ versehen (Fig. ι und 4), welcher in die sägeförmig angeordneten Zähne der Stangen greift, und ist so breit, dafs die gezahnte Stange an dem Zahn bequem vorbei hin- und herbewegt werden kann. Im zusammengeschobenen Zustande bildet jede Stange einen zweiarmigen Hebel, dessen Drehpunkt an dem Zahn Z bezw. ÜT¹ des Durchlasses 5 bezw. S¹ sich befindet. Werden die Greifer durch Auseinanderziehen der Handgriffe G einander genähert und ein Topf eingeklemmt und hochgehoben, so treten die Zähne Z und Z¹ in eine entsprechende Zahnlücke und verhindern eine Bewegung der Greifer, so dafs der Topf vollkommen festgehalten wird. Will man den Topf aus den Greifern lösen, so setzt man ihn nieder, wodurch die Zähne Z und Z¹ selbstthätig aufser Eingriff mit den Zähnen der Stangen A und A¹ kommen. Jetzt können die Handgriffe leicht einander genähert und der Topf aus den Greifern herausgenommen werden.
