Description
Infusion soil or any other mass that aids filtration, is then added, in an amount of about 2 to 10 kg per 80 l of the washed out Pulp. The drier the pulp, the lower the amount of infusorial earth that is required.
The still moist 'lasse, consisting of pulp and infusion soil, becomes squeezed to win uni a cake that is crushed and at ordinary temperature is dried, for example with i #; ' C. Complete removal of moisture Soot to be avoided: 3 to 4. ° / "moisture should be left in the dried" lag behind. in order to wetting the Lighten the mass with acid.
Any suitable dryer, z.
The following procedure is used to standardize the lasse, which, depending on the type of substance, contains different amounts of ectose: 30 g of the dry matter are mixed with about 100 cc of water, the matter is brought to the boil and treated with an acid, e.g. . B. hydrochloric acid, added. This sets the p11 value to a value between 2.4 and 2.65 . The acidified mass is left at boiling temperature for half an hour and then squeezed out in a fruit sack. In this way a hot pectin liquid is obtained, the acidity of which is blunted by adding about 6 cc of a solution of sodium acetate. The solution contains ig sodium acetate per cc of the solution itself. 350 cc of the pectin solution is then taken and 500 g of cane sugar are added to it. It is boiled to a weight of 77 ounces and poured into glasses with a capacity of zoo ccm each. A few cc of 50% citric acid solution is stirred into these glasses; the jelly should form immediately.
If the jelly has not formed after 12 hours, then larger test quantities than 350 ccm must be tried with 500 g sugar and boiled down to 770 g again.
The number of jelly strength results from the formula: where X denotes the sugar in grams which can be brought into jelly form by the total amount of the extracted mass. . The calculation is made from the following formula: If the jelly strength is too low, you have to add pectin-containing substances from other jelly strengths. In the other case, filter material or infusion soil can also be added. From the preparation consisting of pectose-containing pulp and infusorial earth, pectin can then later be obtained in a known manner - by hydrolysis and extraction - earth. It is important in this process not to drive the comminution down to colloidal size. l) ic filtration is facilitated by the fact that the comminution is interrupted before the colloidal size of the particles is reached.
