Description
Process for treating finished, chamois leather Process for converting leather into a state of rubber-like elasticity have not become known. It has now been shown that ready-made chamois-cooked Leather when treated with commercially available aqueous solutions of zinc chloride or Calcium rhodanide assumes an elastic state. Such solutions will be of trade sprayed on the leather, applied, or you can also use the leather directly soak the solution and then expediently squeeze off the excess.
The leather shows a certain amount of shrinkage on treatment and increases already after a short treatment, but especially after drying, an elasticity that allows a rubber-like extension beyond the original length. While zinc chloride is primarily suitable, it has been found that too z. B. an about 2o to q.o% solution of calcium rhodanide, although not so good like zinc chloride, can be used to achieve the elastic state.
