Kneadable mass for sealing and filling electrical cable
and wire fitting parts For sealing and filling in electrical cable and
Line fittings parts have been used previously waxy masses, but the
The disadvantage is that their kneadability and dimensional stability depend very much on the temperature
is dependent. The same goes for the masses that, on the basis of bitumen
are constructed. These masses also have the disadvantage that they rub off and
therefore, the processing is difficult, and that it is both at high temperature, as
Even with stronger kneading, the wire should stick too strongly.
Farbstoffzusatz benutzt. The disadvantages of the known masses are avoided by a mass
consisting of petroleum products and fillers, according to the invention
a mixture of 25 to 30% natural or synthetic = vaseline, 1 to 5% bitumen, 65
up to 750/0 carbonate-free, mineral, fiber-free fillers with a low
Dye additive used.
It is already known to protect cables, pipes and others
metallic bodies against corrosive influences. to use protective tapes,
which is coated with a mixture of petroleum products and fillers. The well-known
However, mass consists of: a high percentage of petroleum products, so that they
due to their lack of dimensional stability @ also not for filling cables
and wire fitting parts is usable. In contrast, the mass is according to
Invention .good kneadable, non-sticky and within the .an electrical lines
occurring temperatures, i.e. from about - 2o to -f-700, dimensionally stable. this will
by using the largest possible amount: of fillers: achieved.
However, this makes it necessary to process the mixture in a kneading machine.
This disadvantage can, however, in view of the excellent properties of the modeling clay
be accepted. "The production is expediently carried out in such a way that initially
the hydrocarbons, petroleum jelly and bitumen, are melted down and then fine
pre-dried fillers are kneaded into the mixture. The petroleum products used,
Vaseline and bitumen, expediently have a high drop point, for example about
5o to 6o0 according to U b b e 1 o h d e. Caolin, siliceous chalk,
Talc or similar substances are used. Considering the required
chemical resistance, the fillers must not contain carbonates, as a
Mass produced with carbonate filler in acid vapors over time
would be decomposed with inflation of the mass and formation of electrolytes.
ohne Einflüß ist, muß i '.;
Masse herbeigeführt wer-#u, so z.
o, a % Ruß.Due to the low bitumen addition, the property of the compound to absorb water, which can be attributed to the high amount of filler added, is eliminated. In contrast to: the known mass, which is water-repellent due to its high content of petroleum products and for which an addition of bitumen has no influence on the water resistance, must i ' .;
Depending on the proportions of the bitumen additive, the resistance of the compound to the action of moisture can be increased to any desired degree, so that the dimensions can be increased even under the most unfavorable conditions; z. B. if it is permanently under water, absorbs practically no water and retains a high degree of electrical insulation, but generally a small addition is sufficient to achieve the water resistance required for normal use of the compound. A different coloration of the mass can be brought about by adding small amounts of fiber, e.g. B. blackening by adding, for example, o, a% carbon black.
