Der neue Rost besteht aus hohlen Roststäben von keilförmigem Querschnitt; dieselben sind auf zwei entsprechend ausgezackten Trägern gelagert, derart, dafs eine Auswechselung leicht möglich ist. Der Hauptzweck dieses neuen Rostes besteht darin, dafs die Verbrennungsluft vorerst durch die hohlen Roststäbe a, Fig. 10, welche dadurch gleichmäfsig abgekühlt bleiben, streicht, sodann in erwärmtem Zustande durch den gut verschlossenen Aschenfall hindurch zwischen die Roststäbe und damit in das Feuer gelangt. Auch bei etwaiger Verstopfung der Zwischenräume zwischen den einzelnen hohlen Roststäben wird die durch dieselben streichende Luft so weit zur Kühlung beitragen, um ein Schmelzen zu verhüten. Die einzelnen Roststäbe werden aus Stahl, Gufs- oder Walzeisen hergestellt und sind in Fig. 1 bis 4 im Querschnitt dargestellt. Fig. 5 und 6 zeigen Querschnitte vonRöhrenroststäben, welche bei muldenförmiger Ausbildung (Fig. 11) des Rostes seitlich zu liegen kommen und mehrfache Verwendung gestatten. Fig. 7 und 8 zeigen den Träger, in dessen Ausschnitte die betreffenden Roststäbe zu liegen kommen. In Fig. 10 zeigen die punktirten Pfeile die Einströmrichtung der' kalten Luft in die Luftkammer und Röhrenroststäbe, die ausgezogenen Pfeile dagegen zeigen die Richtung der heifsen Luft beim Austritt aus den Röhrenstäben in den Aschenfallraum und von da zwischen die Roststäbe hindurch in die Feuerung. Wesentlich ist, dafs in den Aschenfallraum, welcher hermetisch verschliefsbar sein mufs, keine andere Luft eintreten kann als diejenige, welche zuerst durch die hohlen Roststäbe gedrungen ist und darin erhitzt worden ist.The new grate consists of hollow grate bars with a wedge-shaped cross-section; they are mounted on two correspondingly serrated supports in such a way that they can easily be exchanged. In Fig. 10 the dotted arrows show the inflow direction of the cold air into the air chamber and tubular grate bars, the solid arrows, on the other hand, show the direction of the hot air as it emerges from the tubular bars into the ash box and from there between the grate bars into the furnace. It is essential that no air other than that which first penetrated through the hollow grate bars and was heated therein cannot enter the ash drop chamber, which must be hermetically sealable.
