Description

Cast iron for composite chilled cast iron rolls The invention relates to a Ver to be used for processing metal. Coiled chilled cast iron roller with a jacket-shaped, en Z, cregossene work piece made of white cast iron and with a cast-in , tough and flexible core made of gray cast-iron rope. The previous production proposals for rolling, verkswalzen of this type have not proven themselves mainly for two reasons. The first reason is that the roller gets tensions and cracks when it cools down as a result of the different types of material used in the shell and core. The second reason is the inefficiency of manufacturing such hard rolls, since their martensitic sheath is made of iron with Ni, Cr, Mo, W and similar, expensive alloy additives, e.g. B. from an iron with up to 2 oi'o C io to 1 8 WO Ni, 6 to 1 5 oi'o Cr and i to 2 #, O Si existed. In the production process, as far as the preferred pouring process is concerned, take into account that of 100.0.1 () rollers only about 200.10 are used for the jacket, while the rest is used as scrap is probably available for further use, but is always subjected to rewarming and another large abra; ii, d.

The invention eliminates these difficulties and creates a rolling mill roll with sorbitic-martensitic Manganni, in that the chilled cast iron casing is made of a white cast iron with 1.8 to 3.30,10 carbon, to 1.5% silicon, 6 to 15% (), lo manganese and low levels of chromium and nickel. The amount of low nickel and chromium additions depends on the intended use; In the case of nickel, as in the case of chromium, it is o-, ioilo in its lowest limits and 3 #, o in its uppermost limits.

The materials have a further feature of the invention of the shell and the core by virtue of correspondingly low-carbon core material matching expansion coefficients. This increases the risk of tension and cracks considerably reduced.

The new rolls are preferably manufactured using the known method Kind, that the Ferniteil intended for the formation of the hard Arixitteils first with the Har, alloy fully cast and leave it in the form for as long as n t> ZD until a sufficiently thick tubular body has solidified on the mold, whereupon the still liquid metal residue: removed and the mold filled with the core alloy will.
