sondern umgekehrt von Wolframkarbid und metallischem Titan, so ist es äusserst schwierig, einen wesentlichen Teil des legierten Körpers in ein Doppelkarbid umzuwandeln und eine solche Härte und Festigkeit zu erzielen wie bei einem Herstellungsverfahren nach der Erfindung.
Da zur Herstellung keine niedrig schmelzenden Trägermetalle verwendet werden, erhält man auch dann äusserst harte und feste Körper, wenn in der fertigen Legierung ein Überschuss von Metall oder ein Überschuss an dem als Ausgangsstoff verwendeten Karbid bestehen bleibt.
PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE :
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Hartmetallen durch Pressen und Sintern eines zum überwiegenden Teil aus Metallkarbid bestehenden Pulvergemisches, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass von einem oder mehreren zunächst für sich fertiggestellten Karbiden von Bor, Titan, Silizium, Zirkon, Zer oder Thor ausgegangen und ein oder mehrere der Metalle Tantal, Molybdän oder Wolfram in elementarer, ebenfalls gepulverter Form unter Ausschluss leichter schmelzender Metalle, wie Vanadium, Chrom und der Metalle der Eisengruppe zugesetzt werden.

PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A process for the production of hard metals by pressing and sintering a powder mixture consisting predominantly of metal carbide, characterized in that starting from one or more initially prepared carbides of boron, titanium, silicon, zirconium, Zer or Thor and one or more of the metals tantalum, molybdenum or tungsten are added in elemental, also powdered form, with the exclusion of more easily melting metals such as vanadium, chromium and the metals of the iron group.
