Description

@@ Production of hydrogen or hydrogen-enriched gas from technical gases such as coke oven gas. B. hydrogen, nitrogen, methane and carbon monoxide. It has been found that part of the hydrogen can be separated from the Koksofengasge @ mixture in a relatively very pure form if the activated carbon is already used with relatively pure hydrogen, ie no or only small amounts of the above-mentioned other difficult to adsorb Contains gases, treated. It is advisable to work continuously in the Weisse, so that the charcoal freed from the adsorbed substances is dried and cooled with the aid of hydrogen or hydrogen-rich gases. However, the coal can also be pretreated with a gas that is easier to adsorb than hydrogen. When hydrogen was obtained from coke oven gas or other technical gases, the experiments carried out led to the following result. Coke oven gas was generated under a pressure of 3 atm. directed. The coal was previously dried and cooled with pure hydrogen. The obtained first portions of the coke oven gas treated in this way consisted of a gas containing up to 99% hydrogen and in a. Amount of 701 accrued. In contrast, when using the same charcoal, which, however, was dried and cooled with nitrogen instead of hydrogen, a gas mixture consisting of 59.5% hydrogen and 39.50 / 0 nitrogen is obtained right at the beginning of the adsorption; the gas also contains 0.5010 carbon oxide and 0.5% methane. By working according to the invention, by separately collecting the first portions of the coke oven gas passed through the coal, a hydrogen that can be used for many technical purposes can be obtained, since, as the numerical values already reported, the hydrogen is obtained with a purity sufficient for many purposes . In general, of course, the method according to the invention is only used if, at the same time, the coke oven gas: by adsorption with the activated carbon, other valuable substances, such as. B. benzene and other components that can be used as fuels are to be obtained. The proposed pretreatment of the coal with the gas can be carried out in such a way that part of the gas separated from the gas mixture is used in ongoing operations for pretreating the coal, ie for drying and cooling. The amount of gas used for pretreatment is relatively small, as the gas can be circulated through the activated carbon using a fan. The process can be carried out at a wide variety of pressures, and it is expedient to use increased pressures both in the adsorption stage and in the pretreatment. In doing so, it was generally asked to ensure that the carbon is pretreated at a pressure which about the pressure of the ads, orptions eep speaks. It is advisable to go to the D fä "` k of the present proceedings b; esis.ä: ' Apply coal. @@
