Description

Asbestos pozzolans as an additive for hydraulic binders The invention relates to the production of a highly insulating, reactive asbestos pozzolane, which is added to cement concrete and mortar as a floury additive, energetically intervenes in the hardening, water-repellent, heat-retaining and difficult to wear and has a temperature-retarding effect in concrete, etc. and makes mortar resistant to aggressive sewage, acidic gases and sea water. The additive asbestos pozzolans described here is made from the following raw materials. About 8o to 9o percent by weight of finely ground kaolin is intimately mixed with 2o to 10 percent by weight of asbestos flour and made available for the mortar. The addition of these asbestos pozzolans to cement concrete and mortar is about 1 part of cement = ½ part of asbestos pozzolana and 3 parts of sand and other aggregates, such as gravel etc., in appropriate parts of the room. After intimate mixing has taken place, enough water is added to the mixture to produce an earth-moist concrete or plastic mortar. Asbestos pozzolans can also be added to lime mortar in equal parts of the room. Immediately after mixing with water, the concrete and mortar to which asbestos pozzolane is mixed starts a reaction that is externally noticeable in that the setting times are increased. When the setting begins, the lime that is released from the cement is bound by the reactive silicic acid of the asbestos pozzolans to form calcium hydrosilicate. During this process, the development of heat is inhibited and used for the formation of silicate; the setting times are therefore l½ to z hours higher than with cement concrete without the addition of asbestos pozzolans, with setting heat only occurring to a very small extent and tensions not occurring. Cement concrete and mortar with asbestos pozzolana hold the mixing water firmly, and this is done by the finely ground wind-sifted kaolin, which after mortaring greasy covers the surface of the components of the concrete and mortar and thus reduces the influence of solar radiation, wind exposure, etc. and also downwards the mixing water cannot be drained off, so that it is completely available for silicate formation. The asbiest flour contained in the A. At the same time, it is supposed to prevent the penetration of cold and heat into the concrete body and serve as a poor conductor of heat. Diesel asbestos pozzolans, added to cement concrete or white lime mortar, intervenes very vigorously in the hardening process; in particular, it causes high tensile and compressive strengths to be achieved and makes any concrete and Mortar is low in lime and therefore resistant to M-fi more capable against aggressive sewage, lighter Acids, exhaust gases, etc. Processing at the construction site is after the addition of asbestos pozzolans to the cement and lime with other additives such as sand, gravel and grit, etc.,. the same as any other normal cement concrete and mortar.
