Description

Arrangement for measuring the X-ray intensity and the duration of the Radiation using a fluorescent screen, a barrier cell irradiated by it and an electrical measuring instrument for the purpose of measuring the X-ray intensity, especially in therapeutic treatment, the photoelectric treatment is often used Cell has been proposed. Accordingly, it has recently also been the case for a number of years known junction cell for the purpose: recommended. However, since this cell is only used for very soft X-rays produce a photoelectric effect that is just sufficient there, while this decreases sharply with increasing hardness of the X-rays, so it has been proposed to use the barrier cell with a phosphorescent screen to cover, which glows under the influence of the X-rays. This lighting effect generates a photoelectric in the junction cell and its associated circuit Current proportional to the light emission of the screen. The light emission and with it the photocurrent generated by them are then a simple measure for the one to be measured X-ray intensity.

For therapeutic purposes it is often required to be effective the radiation directly at the irradiated location and during the actual irradiation process monitor yourself. This monitoring has two different directions to happen, namely in terms of the intensity of the radiation and at the same time in terms of their duration. This is what is decisive for the medical effect Integral of the radiation intensity over the period of time.

An essential requirement that so far has not been possible with simple means was achievable, lies in the fact that the control of the irradiation process used device during 'the timing of this process to the place of Irradiation can be brought without there as a result of strong absorption of the radiation to exercise an impermissible shielding effect; furthermore there must be the possibility the time integration of the irradiation process must be given. The present Invention meets this requirement for the first time by using the Barrier cell due to its weakly absorbent base (e.g. light metal or metallized textiles) represents a practically negligible shield. At the same time, an integrating ammeter used in the external circuit allows the measurement of the product of current and time, as required by X-ray technology.

The combination of the particularly weakly absorbing barrier cell with the already weakly absorbing X-rays Luminescent screen and the integrating measuring instrument, its usability in such a simple way is only made possible by the combination of cell and screen, so it is for the purpose considered here represents a 'substantial advance. The previously used X-ray dosimeters work with either highly sensitive relays or with tube amplifiers, making such arrangements very complicated and expensive will. The arrangement according to the invention provides such a simple, reliable one and cheap solution that only through it wide circles of medicine the possibility X-ray dosimetry is likely to be given.
