gut verwendbar.Stone for journal bearings on clocks, etc. For journal bearings on clocks, counters
etc. their armature usually consists of a perforated jewel and .einem

Stones consist mostly of precious stones, e.g. B. ruby, sapphire, etc. You already have
a ceramic obtained by sintering processes as the raw material for such stones
Fabric, e.g. B. sintered corundum suggested. On the other hand, you already have the proposal
made, as a material for a wide variety of objects, alloys made of tungsten,
Use carbon and additional metals. However, such hard alloys are
highly porous and have only a low level of hardness; they are not as clock stones
well usable.
It has now been found that a tungsten carbide hard metal is eminently suitable for the stones in journal bearings and escapements of clocks, counters, etc. as a substitute for the usual rubies or sapphires, if one takes care that the hard metal has a completely homogeneous composition and pore-free texture and also an extremely high hardness, e.g. B. over 1700 Vickers units; because an inhomogeneous composition or a porous nature or a lower hardness of the material would rather promote wear. According to the invention, with a view to these requirements, a compacted, pore-free tungsten carbide hard metal made of 92 to 98% tungsten carbide and 8 to 2% Nilekel or cobalt is used, which has a hardness of over 170 Vickers units and in which the tungsten carbide also has up to 2o due to titanium carbide can be replaced. This material can be polished to a high gloss and is ideal for stones in watch components, e.g. B. jewels, which then far surpass those made of sapphires and rubies in hardness, durability and precision. In addition to their great hardness, the stones made from this carbide are also characterized by great resistance to pressure and bending stress and by an extremely low coefficient of friction.
