Description

Process for the preparation of compounds from selenium and carbon If you use a known method of moist carbon tetrachloride on phosphorus pentaselenide allowed to have an effect in red heat, a small amount of a liquid was obtained which Contained at most 20/0 selenium carbon. Compounds of selenium mixes carbon have not yet been produced in their pure form.

It has now been found that such compounds are essential Easier way and considerably better yield can be obtained if you use hydrogen selenide at Temp.eraturmen between 30o and 700 °, expediently at about 500 °, on halides of carbon, for example carbon tetrachloride, can act. One moves advantageously in such a way that the carbon halide is in the vaporous state hydrogen selenide mixes together and optionally with an inert guide gas mixed, passed through heated tubes. The resulting reaction product, a mixture from a soul carbon, selenium halide and unchanged carbon halide, can be condensed by cooling and in a known manner, for. B. by steam distillation and fractionation can be further purified. Example A mixes carbon tetrachloride vapor and a nitrogen stream loaded with hydrogen selenide vapor are contained in such a stream Mixed ratio that the resulting mixed gas has the ratio C C14: a H2Se having. This mixture is passed through a tube system heated to 500 ° and then in a template, chilled. The condensate obtained in this way exists from a mixture of unchanged carbon tetrachloride, carbon selenium and Selenium chlorides. It is subjected to steam distillation and then ordinary and subsequently fractionated under reduced pressure. Finally, one obtains carbon selenium of the formula C S-e2, which has a melting point of -45.5 'and below 76omm Pressure boils at 1z4 °.
