Zweck in Bietracht kommen
sollen.
Musical instrument made entirely or partly of synthetic resin It has long been proposed to produce sound bodies of musical instruments, in particular string instruments, from plastic materials which can be deformed by pressing. In the German patent 398 092 2 from 2q .. June 1921 it has been proposed to produce sound bodies, especially the top and bottom of string instruments, from plastic deformable masses in order to give these parts the same elasticity, whereby according to the specification all as Binders, resins Moderate plastic compounds containing resin substitutes for these. Purpose should come into consideration. A certain usable synthetic material is not mentioned in the patent specification. In British patent specification 300935 of August 18, t927, musical instruments, which are usually made of wood, are proposed to be made of synthetic resin for the purpose of being cheaper to receive the form given to it. The resin to be used should preferably be mixed with a filler such as wood dust. The patent specifies the advantages of light weight and practical inability to be influenced by the weather. Here, too, certain synthetic resins that meet the requirements are not mentioned. In reality, for a successful solution to the task of producing sound bodies for musical instruments, only those synthetic resins which combine a large number of properties can be considered. Examples include: the strength and hardness required for making instruments while avoiding brittleness, elasticity, machinability through measures such as sawing, cutting, drilling, grinding, etc., absence of signs of aging, resistance to the influence of air and moisture, practical Unbreakable and, above all, the property that the musical instruments made with them are distinguished by their beautiful sound, sufficient volume, etc. With the general proposal to use plastic masses or synthetic resins and the enumeration of some desirable properties, the problem of producing musical instruments from synthetic resins has not found a technically feasible solution.
anderen Eigenschaften
und Nebenwirkungen. Diese Polymerisate und gewisse Eigenschaften derselben, wie
Festigkeit, Härte, Elastizität, Bearbeitbarkeit, Unzerbrechlichkeit und Was= serfestigkeit
The inventor has now found that among the thousands of known synthetic resins
a small group, namely poly (methacrylate) methyl esters. P, olymethacrylic acid ethyl ester
and mixtures of moderate copolymers of both, which all have good properties,
which are required for the construction of clans and bodies of musical instruments, in

hergestellten Flöten in Wegfall. The invention allows the manufacture of wind instruments such as
Flutes, string instruments such as violins, and other instruments, e.g. B. of zithers.
All instruments produced according to the invention are characterized by sound quality, practical
Unbreakable, unchangeable, even in a humid atmosphere, tropicalized
and other valuable properties. Wind instruments, such as flutes, have full
and strong tone, very easy response, no fluctuations in mood, none
Tendency to warp or crack. Metal inserts and other protective devices,
as they are common with wooden flutes and similar instruments, come with the invention
manufactured flutes in elimination.
The polymers, polymer mixtures or misclipolymers can

Die Herstellung der -.Musikinstrumente kann z. B. derart erfolgen,
kommen durchsichtige Instrumente herstellen

Beispiele
i. Zwei Platten aus P,olymethylmethacrylat
(.10o ri zoo 8 mm) werden durch Erhitzen
auf i 5o bis i 6o" C thermisch erweicht und
über die Boden- und Deckenform einer
Violine gebogen. Nach dem Abkühlen wird
den so gewonnenen Kunstharzformstücken
durch mechanische Bearbeitung,, wie Sägen,
Fräsen, Hobeln, Schleifen, Polieren, die ge-
wünschte, den Regeln des Violinbaues ent-
sprechende Form gegeben. Der Boden, die
mit dem Stimmbalken versehene Decke und
die ebenfalls aus P,olymethylacrylat herge-
stellte Zarge werden mit Chloroform oder
Glykolchlorhydrin oder Lösungen des Foly-
merisats in diesen Stoffen oder mit Hilfe
dünner Polymerisatfilme verklebt. Die übri-
gen Teile, wie Hals, Wirbelkasten, Schnecke
und Griffbrett, Kinnhalter, Saitenhalter, Steg
und Stimmstock, werden aus Polymethyl-
methacrylat hergestellt, geschliffen und po-
liert und durch Kleben oder sonstige beim
Violinbau übliche Maßnahmen mit dem Kör-
per verbunden.- Man erhält so eine völlig
durchsichtige Violine, die nach Bespannen mit
üblichen* Saiten spielbar ist und sich durch
weichen Klang auszeichnet.
z. Aus einem Mischpolymerisat von 85 Tei-
len Methylmethacrylat und 15 Teilen Butyl-
acrylat wird in der in Beispiel i geschilder-
ten Weise eine Zither gebaut. Auch dieses
Instrument zeichnet sich durch weichen Klang
aus.
lichen seitlichen Bohrungen versehen. Die
Kopfstücke der Flöte können entweder ein-
geklemmt oder mit Gewinde versehen und
eingeschraubt werden. Alle Teile der Flöte
werden geschliffen und poliert, so daß das
ganze Instrument völlig durchsichtig ist. Eine
derartige Trommelflöte spricht leicht an und
besitzt einen kräftigen Ton.
q.. Zur Herstellung einer größeren Flödc,
