When designing spherical circuit breakers, in which the arc is drawn between spherical surfaces and the base points of the arc begin to migrate when the sphere is rapidly switched off, compressed air is blown from the inside of one sphere against the surface of the other sphere Movement of a foot point of the .Lichtbogen significantly increased on one ball. An improvement of this arrangement is achieved according to the invention by such an arrangement of the contacts and the formation of compressed air lines to the contacts that one base point of the arc at the fixed, spherical contact is caused to wander outwards by the blowing action of the compressed air, while the other Arc base is drawn inward at the movable ball contact by suction. The suction effect is preferably brought about by the fact that the piston, which is connected to the movable contact and which generates the compressed air in a known manner, pushes outwards through a tube, in an outer tube surrounding the compressed air tube induces an air dilution which causes the arc into it Pipe sucked in.
In the drawing, a single-pole version of such a switch is shown in side view, specifically α means the base on which two stationary insulators b carry the fittings for the supply and discharge of the current. A spherical, fixed contact is provided on the upper insulator and is arranged on a bolt d which can be displaced to a limited extent. A spring presses the contact down. A blower and suction tube mouthpiece o and h made of non-conductive material opens into the counter-contact. The inner opening g carries an elongated tube which is connected to the piston // at the lower end. The suction pipe openings Λ are connected to another pipe / which surrounds the inner pipe, opens into the compression cylinder / and ends above the piston. The mouthpiece g, h is made of a non-conductive, refractory material which is surrounded by the contact hood /. The contact hood / is connected to the suction tube / by metal. The piston is firmly attached to the inner, that is, the pressure tube.
Rohr/ hineingesaugt.Means the k on the base a movable insulator with its armature comprises the suction and pressure tube, during the disconnection movement of the contact / g, and thus the Saugrohröffnungen and Ii and the piston in the cylinder η m after moving downward. During the downward movement, which is accelerated by a spring, the air below the piston is compressed and thus pushed up through the tube g against the ball contact c , thus causing the base point of the arc formed at this contact to migrate outwards. At the same time, the air in the tube / above the piston is diluted and the base point of the arc that is formed at the moving contact / is sucked inward into the tube /.
