Description
Process for the production of pulp from straw or other pectocellulose plants In the usual alkaline process for the production of pulp from wood, that is in the so-called soda or sulfate process, the wood is in a caustic soda or sulphate liquor, whereby the lignin and the like, i.e. H. those present in the wood Incrusts are dissolved and the pulp fibers are freed.
The lignin saturates more or less completely when it dissolves the caustic soda and gives a solution of dark color called the black liquor will.
Similar processes are also used in the manufacture of pulp Pectocellulosic plants, e.g. B. Straw, applied to break up the incrustations of straw or pectosis to expose the pulp.
The invention now relates to a method for producing pulp from straw or other pectocellulose plants by treating these substances with a waste liquor produced during the boiling of wood, which is characterized by that the substances mentioned are boiled in a black liquor rich in sodium lignates which contains no or only so small amounts of free alkali that this is free Alkali alone would not be able to break down the pectocellulose plants into pulp. It is known that pectosis dissolves in strong bases, e.g. B. a solution of free caustic soda. The invention makes use of the knowledge that a Dissolution of this pectosis is also possible in sodium lignates resulting from the previous one Treatment of wood with caustic soda, on which this lign, ate in no way Effect more, and accordingly the free alkali not at all or only in contain small amounts. This property seems to be due to that the pectose has a higher acidity than the wood lignin and that it is accordingly is able to displace this from its sodium salts and partially to fail.
Incidentally, these properties only have those waste liquors that arise in the soda or sulphate process, d. H. the so-called black liquor. at In contrast to the leaching of the sulphite process, the lignin of alkali or alkaline earth bisulfite bound, in the form of salts of lignin sulfonic acid, d. H. a strong acid that is not displaced from its salts by pectic acids can be.
Even when using ammonium sulphite, the considerable amounts of free If it contains ammonia, no lignic acid salts are formed. If, as is claimed, waste liquor is used in the digestion of the halo Ammonium sulphite falls, can be used to break up straw, so this is the effect do not attribute to the ammonium salts contained in each waste liquor, but at most the free ammonia added to your ammonium sulfite in this known process. The invention has with this known method, with your so the straw in the first place Line is digested by the free ammonia present in the waste liquor, nothing to do.
The invention also has nothing finite to what has become known Process where the straw or other used to produce pulp suitable substances are finitely pretreated or preheated in a waste liquor in order to be made to obtain pure pulp for them only in a second work stage.
It must be noted that in your method according to the invention the black liquor can be used exactly in the form in which it is used during cooking of wood.
The procedure allows you to use the same amount of caustic soda one at a time to obtain two types of pulp: i. a wood pulp made of pine, spruce or the like. under the usual cooking conditions with the action of caustic soda on the wood, 2. a pulp made from straw or other pectocellulose plants through action the black liquor resulting from the first-mentioned boiling on the straw.
Under certain circumstances, the black liquor resulting from the strobe cliting can be removed use for a second Strolizell fabric preparation. But it can also be immediate into the caustic soda recovery facility.
A few exemplary embodiments now follow: Example i 49 g of anhydrous straw are treated with a finite 35 ° C black liquor of 19 ° Be, which contains 15 g of free caustic soda in 1 liter, and 1.65 1 of water. Boiling takes place for 3 hours at 3, > Atni .. whereupon (18.5 "(o dry yield of cellulose is obtained from which a paper can be produced which, according to the degree of malilation, has a tearing length of 8,000 to 10,500. Example 2 255 g of anhydrous wood are boiled for 8 hours, in the last 6 hours under 8 atm. 4 ° / o.
The black liquor, which still contains 34 g of free caustic soda, is used to treat 170 g of rye straw for 3 hours using 8 atm. Pressure to cook. A light-colored cellulose pulp which can be easily bleached is obtained in 54.3% yield. The black liquor from this second cooking, which still contains 7.68 g of free caustic soda per liter, can be used for a third cooking of 170 g of straw, and 57% of a good Kraft straw pulp is obtained.
Without departing from the essence of the invention, several could be made Make changes. E.g. you could put the straw in a cooker that still contains wood pulp mixed with black liquor. You could also choose the cooking time and change and regulate the pressure used within wide limits.
Finally it should be mentioned that the process is not only suitable for rye straw, wheat straw, Oat straw, barley straw and the like, but also on stalks, stubble and leaves, other pectocellulose plants, such as alfa, ramie, raphia,: maize, sorghum, linen, Hemp, bamboo and the like, can be used finitely.
The pulp, which is colored in brown, easily bleachable color is obtained, can not only be used for the production of Paper, but also for all other purposes for which pulp was previously used used.
