Process for the preparation of alkyl and aralkyl chlorides or bromides
It has been found that alkyl and aralkyl chlorides or bromides are easy
Art can be made from alcohols and hydrogen chloride or hydrogen bromide, if one
as a reactant, salts of strong acids with nitrogenous heterocyclic acids
Connections used. These substances offer the advantage that you can even
sufficiently high temperatures under vacuum in the liquid phase at atmospheric pressure
can achieve rapid formation of alkyl and aralkyl chlorides or bromides
to ensure. In addition, such reactants contain when they are hydrohalides
are present, hydrogen chloride or hydrogen bromide in easily split off form, so that one from
them and the alcohols concerned even without special addition of chlorine or
Hydrogen bromide receives alkyl and aralkyl chlorides or bromides. The nitrogenous
heterocyclic compounds can also be in the form of their quaternary compounds
are present, which are either added from the beginning or arise in the course of the procedure
leaves.
. Beispiel i In eine
To carry out the process, a mixture of alcohol and hydrogen chloride or hydrogen bromide is added to the heated base hydrohalide, expediently in such a way that complete conversion can occur through good mixing and a sufficiently long contact time. The resulting alkyl and aralkyl chlorides or bromides are separated from some of the alcohol and the resulting water by known processes. The process can be made continuous. . EXAMPLE i In a solution of 250 g of dry hydrogen chloride in 5009 pyridine, a dq ° 10 is added at about 150 to 170 ° with stirring. Dissolution of hydrogen chloride in anhydrous ethyl alcohol or a corresponding dissolution in water-containing alcohol is added dropwise under the surface of the liquid. In an upstream, empty washing bottle, the alcohol and water that have been carried away are separated out. The gaseous ethyl chloride which passes through is condensed in a cold mixture. EXAMPLE 2 A 42 ° solution of hydrogen chloride in isopropyl alcohol is added dropwise to an equal amount of pyridine hydrochloride at 150 ° to 170 ° with stirring. In a washing bottle that was placed in front of it, heated to around 45 °, water and a little isopropyl alcohol separates, while the isopropyl chloride from the KP- 35 to 37 ° behind it is condensed in a cold mixture. EXAMPLE 3 A 33% solution of hydrogen chloride in isolated alcohol is added dropwise to an equal amount of pyridine hydroxide at 150 ° with stirring. The reaction products obtained are distilled after drying with potassium carbonate. The main product obtained is a liquid with a boiling point of 50 to 70 °, from which about 213 tertiary butyl chloride of Xp. 5o to 55 and about 1j3-isobutyl chloride of bp 63 to 69 ' can be separated.
The yield according to the above examples is practically quantitative.
The slower work, the more complete the alcohol is used.
Beispiel 4.
in bester usbeute. Beispiel 7 In i Mol Pyridin wird i Mol Bromwasserstoff: eingeleitet.
etwas Wasser, z. B. 5 °/o.
Example 4 ...: A 25 ° 10 solution of hydrogen chloride in benzyl alcohol is added dropwise to a solution of 70 g of hydrogen chloride in 5009 N-methyl-a-pyridone with stirring at 150 ° C temperature. The distillate consists of two layers. The benzyl chloride layer after separation is dried and fractionated. The yield of benzyl chloride is good. Example 5 Pyridine chloromethylate is prepared from pyridine hydrochloride and methyl alcohol in accordance with patent 593 67o. Further addition of methyl alcohol and hydrochloric acid to the chlorine heated to about 150 to 170 °. Ethylate now results in the formation of chloromethyl. Example 6 500 g of pyridine are reacted with 96o g of diethyl sulphate to form 1T-ethylpyridinium ethosulphate. At 150 °, a 44% solution of hydrogen chloride in ethyl alcohol free from sugar is added dropwise. The procedure is carried out exactly as in example i. The best possible yield of ethyl chloride is produced. Example 7 One mole of hydrogen bromide is introduced into one mole of pyridine. To lower the liquefaction point, the pyridine advantageously contains some water, e.g. B. 5%. A solution of hydrogen bromide in ethyl alcohol (with a molecular ratio of i: i) is added dropwise at from 120 to 150 ° with stirring or other mixing so that the bromoethyl formed can escape through a cooler which retains the alcohol.
Menge Bromwasserstoff, zweckmäßig in geringem Überschuß; gasförmig zuleiten. You can also add the ethyl alcohol for yourself - and the necessary
Amount of hydrogen bromide, expediently in a slight excess; feed in gaseous form.
The bromoethyl formed is already quite pure and almost arises
the calculated amount.
In a similar manner, other alcohols can also be converted into the hydrobromic esters
convict.
