Bei den bis jetzt gebräuchlichen Maschinen zum Waschen und Spülen von loser Wolle u. dergl. mufs die Wolle die strudelärtigeh Bewegungen des Wassers, welche durch die Fortbewegungsmechanismen hervorgerufen werden, mitmachen. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, dafs in dem Waschtroge eine mit einem feinen Drahtgewebe oder gelochtem Blech überzogene Trommel angeordnet ist, in welcher sich die Vorrichtung zur Bewegung des Wassers befindet. In der Trommel oder unter derselben ist dabei eine Scheidewand angeordnet, so dafs das von der in der Trommel befindlichen Vorrichtung angetriebene Wasser an der Oberfläche durch die Trommel hindurchgeht, während es unter derselben wieder zurückfliefst, also ein ununterbrochener Kreislauf entsteht. Die in den Bottich gebrachte Wolle wird nun unter der Trommel hindurchgehen und dort, wo die Trommel aus dem Wasser herauskommt, sich auf dieselbe auflegen und von derselben mitgenommen werden, worauf sie auf der anderen Seite der Trommel wieder in die Waschflüssigkeit gelangt.
