Treibvorrichtung für Schiffe.Propulsion device for ships.
Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf jene Klasse von Treibvorrichtungeh für Schiffe, bei welcher sich drehende, unter Wasser tauchende luftdichte Trommeln benutzt werden, aus denen Schaufeln der Reihe nach vorgeschoben werden. Der obere Theil der Trommel ist in einem wasserdichten Gehäuse im Schiff enthalten, während der untere Theil dem Wasser ausgesetzt ist. Eine an der Trommel befestigte Welle geht durch Stopfbüchsen im Gehäuse hinaus und trägt an den Enden Kurbeln, welche zwischen dem Gehäuse und der Schiffswand liegen und durch Pleuelstangen vom Motor aus getrieben werden. Die Schaufeln gleiten in Ausnehmungen in der Trommel und fallen der Reihe nach infolge der Schwere herab, sobald sie bei der Drehung der Trommel in .den unteren Theil des Trommelgehäuses gelangen.The present invention relates to that class of propulsion devices for ships in which rotating, submerged airtight drums are used, from which blades are pushed forward one after the other.
