Description

Process for the production of panels, profile pieces and the like from phenol-formaldehyde synthetic resin It is known that the Phenolforma @ dehydkunstbarze by one usually several Days of heat treatment (hardening) from the liquid to the solid state be transferred. It is also known that there is an intermediate stage in this hardening is achieved in which the synthetic resins are already solid, but as a result of them after all, the soft so-called B-state is still relatively easy to work with are z. B. by cutting tools, drills, etc. (Patent 214 194 and 237790) - It has now been shown that this processing of the synthetic resins in this plastic intermediate state through cutting tools only in very raw forms is possible. It can be z. B. in this way produce platelets of some Square centimeters in area and a few millimeters thick. If one tries, however, more extensive plates of several square decimeters by cutting down from such B1kken, it turns out that this is impossible because for this purpose very powerful knives must be used, which do not have the required Sharpness can be produced. The cut surface becomes rough, the cut one Plate is unusable, not only because of the rough and bumpy cut surface, but also because the material sticks to the knife, the plate curls up as a result and tears. If you try now to avoid this sticking of the synthetic resin on the knife, a somewhat harder synthetic resin than it corresponds to the pure B-state, but still Synthetic resin that is not fully cured, as is necessary for commercial processing is to be cut, it turns out that the knife does not stick, but the material is so hard at ordinary temperature that the knife can hardly be used penetrates, and so brittle that no continuous plate, but only individual ones Fragments. Are obtained because the plate does not bend the cut piece, which is due to the wedge-shaped cross-section of the knife used, not tolerate.

It has already been found that this gluing disappears and still occurs Cutting with a knife is possible if the material is not completely up to the extreme end state, but hardens so far that no further hardening by heat treatment is required and this material is heated. The material but in this state it is very sensitive to heat treatment, and one has to therefore im. Cut oil bath.

In relation to this method, the invention is based on the knowledge that also .a material lying further after the B-stage, i.e. a material which still requires post curing by heat treatment, at a temperature of about. 5o to i20 ° no longer sticks and is still so soft that it can be cut without hesitation. Such a material does not need an oil bath when cutting, but must in contrast to the above-mentioned cutable material still be post-cured.

The method is expediently carried out so that a synthetic resin block any shape, which is in the mentioned hardness state, at an intrinsic temperature, d. H. in its heat brought from the manufacturing process, which is approximately between 5o and i2o ° C, is treated with cutting tools without the block continuous heat is supplied by a hot water or oil bath. It has to be shown that it is not appropriate to insert the knife into the .Block, but it is best to clamp the block on the one that can be moved in a horizontal plane Slide on your of the well-known celluloid cutting machines. These machines work in such a way that the knife is stationary while the block is against the knife too moved. In this way, plates or tapes from many can be used without difficulty Square decimeters in area and several centimeters thick as required; down to fractions of a millimeter, what with the previously applied methods with the help of cutting tools was not possible. After this Cutting the product is then post-hardened.

Likewise, profiled, z. B. wave-shaped plates, rods cut etc. by using knives of appropriate shape if one is in place a straight knife uses a profiled knife.
