Process for obtaining alcohol from depolymerized carbohydrates
The processes for the fermentation of high polymer carbohydrates, such as. B. cellulose,
Cellulose-containing materials, starch, linters and the like, to alcohol have been used in this way up to now
carried out that these high polymer carbohydrates first with aqueous acids,
such as B. sulfuric acid or highly concentrated hydrochloric acid, with ordinary or
increased temperatures and only then after the corresponding dulling of the
Acid fermented.
When treating with the aqueous, possibly highly concentrated
Mineral acids, the high polymer carbohydrates were now regularly adversely changed,
since the hot aqueous acid is extremely unfavorable at an elevated temperature
has a reverse effect on the product and partially humifies it:
This makes the hydrolysis and the subsequent fermentation extremely difficult.
According to the present invention, the hydrolysis and fermentation alcohol can be subjected to such carbohydrates, which are particularly prepared and the patent are degraded 554,699 by treatment with compressed hydrogen chloride invention. According to the invention, those carbohydrates are hydrolyzed and fermented to alcohols which are obtained while avoiding higher temperatures as long as hydrochloric acid is still present in a higher concentration; consequently, the carbohydrates prepared and broken down according to the invention have not suffered an unfavorable reversing effect and some humification. In any case, they can be hydrolyzed much better and more easily than the materials obtained by the previously known processes, for example with concentrated hydrochloric acid.
Erfindungsgemäß kann man z. B. derart arbeiten, daß man von gemäß
Patent 554 699
Chlorwasserstoff anfallende Reaktionsprodukt zunächst in geeigneter Weise, z. B.
von 4,a ccm Weingeist, entsprechend 6,52 g Glucose. Beispiele So ccm der im Beispiel
i angewandten Lösung von verfahrensgemäß abgebauter Linters werden i Stunde lang
According to the invention you can, for. B. work in such a way that you only pump off the excess hydrogen chloride from wood, cellulose, linters, etc. decomposed by compressed hydrogen chloride according to patent 554 699 and the reaction product obtained with its original hydrogen chloride content of no more than 10 to 151/0 is dissolved in water hydrolyzed and fermented to alcohol after the acid has been blunted with the addition of yeast. But you can also first of all in a suitable manner, eg. B. by washing with organic solvents (benzene, alcohol mixtures) o. The like. Deacidify and only then hydrolyze and ferment. In any case, the result is that the carbohydrates decomposed with compressed hydrogen chloride are surprisingly easy to hydrolyze and ferment to alcohol with the best yields. Example i 50 cc of an aqueous, about 17% weakly acidic solution of linters degraded according to patent 554 699 are blunted with calcium carbonate to 0.21% acid and fermented with 1.5 g yeast and 1.5 g yeast extract. 2.1 cc of wine spirit are obtained. Converted to 100 cc of the solution mentioned, the yield is 4.0 cc of alcohol, corresponding to 6.52 g of glucose. EXAMPLES So ccm of the solution of linters degraded according to the method used in example i are boiled for 1 hour, then the wort is blunted with calcium carbonate to an acidity of 0.2% and fermented with the addition of 45 g yeast and 45 g yeast extract. Converted to 100 ccm, a yield of 4.0 ccm of alcohol is achieved, corresponding to 6.21 g of glucose. Example 3 So ccm of the test solutions mentioned in Examples 1 and 2 are boiled for 1 hour, then neutralized with normal sodium hydroxide solution. and acidified to 0.1% with normal lactic acid, fermented with 1.5 g of yeast and 1.5 g of yeast extract. Converted to 100 cc of solution, this results in 4.0 cc of alcohol, corresponding to 6.21 g of glucose. EXAMPLE 4 100 liters of a solution which contained -. O kg of a hydrolyzed wood digestion product obtained from wood with the aid of compressed hydrogen chloride according to Patent 554 699 and purified, yielded 1.151 alcohol during fermentation. This corresponds to a yield of 80%, based on dry matter. Example 100 1 of a solution which contained 5.0 kg of a crude, unpurified wood digestion product obtained according to patent 554699, yielded 1. 15 1 alcohol. This corresponds to a yield of 32.2%, based on dry matter.
