Bisher wurden die Zungennadeln der Strickmaschine beim Vorschub geöffnet. Es traf zu
diesem Zwecke gewöhnlich die Zunge derselben mit einem Vorsprung an einen verschiebbaren
Knaggen, wodurch sie nach hinten geklappt wurde. Diese Einrichtung hatte den Uebelstand,
dafs, weil der Vorsprung vorhanden sein mufste, der Haken nicht ganz glatt blieb
und die Nadel, wenn sich die Zunge nicht leicht umlegte, feststemmte,, was ein Zerbrechen
derselben zur Folge hatte.Up to now, the latch needles of the knitting machine were opened during the advance. It was true

Dieser Üebelstand soll durch die auf bei-. liegender Zeichnung dargestellte Einrichtung beseitigt
werden. Es bleibt bei Verwendung derselben der Haken vollständig glatt und es kann
ein Einstemmen und Zerbrechen der Nadel nicht vorkommen. Dieselbe wird nicht beim
Vorgang, sondern beim Rückgang geöffnet und es befindet sich die Oeffnungsvorrichtung nicht
über, sondern unter der Nadel. Die letztere ist zu diesem Zwecke unten mit einer Rille
versehen, wie Fig. 6 bis 8 zeigen. In diese Rille ragt die Nase η der bei o1 drehbaren
Zunge o. Unterhalb der Nadeln sind entweder auf dem Nadelbett selbst oder auf einer besonderen,
auf diesen aufgesetzten Schiene kleine Nasen m angebracht. Die Nasen m richten
sich mit der Spitze nach oben, während die Nasen η mit der Spitze nach "unten gerichtet
sind. Die Nadeln gleiten so beim Aufgang leicht über die Nasen m hinweg, während
diese beim Rückgang das Oeffhen der Zungen bewirken (s. besonders Fig. 6 und 8).This deficiency is said to be due to the two. facility shown in the drawing. Der Vorgang des Strickens ist genau derselbe wie sonst. Der Faden wird durch den
Fadenführer in die geöffnete, hochgeschobene Nadel eingelegt. Beim Rückgang der Nadel
schliefst die auf derselben befindliche Masche wie sonst die Zunge 0 und gleitet über den
Haken hinweg (Fig. 4), wobei die im Haken befindliche Masche durch dieselbe hindurchgezogen
wird. Sobald das geschehen ist, stöfst beim weiteren Rückgang die kleine Nase η
der Klappe an die Nase m und dadurch wird die Zunge umgeschlagen (s. Fig. 2 und 8).
Wird nun die Nadel von neuem vorgeschoben, so schiebt sich wie sonst die Nadel mit der
Zunge durch die in dem Haken befindliche Masche hindurch, so dafs diese hinter die
Zunge zu liegen kommt (Fig. 3) und der Vorgang beginnt in derselben Weise von neuem.
Die gezeichnete, mit den Nasen m versehene Schiene s wird mit Schlitzlöchern oder mit
einer anderen Vorrichtung versehen, so dafs sie auf dem Nadelbett verstellt werden kann
und dadurch nach Erfordernifs ein früheres oder späteres Oeffnen stattfindet. Werden die
Nasen η nach unten vorstehend gestaltet, so braucht das Nadelbett nur mit einer über dasselbe
reichenden nasenförmigen Querschiene versehen zu sein.The process of knitting is exactly the same as usual. The thread is inserted through the thread guide into the open, raised needle. If the lugs η are designed to project downwards, the needle bed only needs to be provided with a lug-shaped transverse rail extending over the same.
