Description
It is well known that the electrodes of electric welding machines must have good electrical conductivity, high hardness and low alloying ability with the material to be welded Own workpieces. Since the electrodes of electric welding machines are higher Achievements are exposed to very high mechanical pressures, so is one recently endeavors to replace the previously commonly used copper with a more suitable material to replace. Attempts have already been made to combine the copper with other metals, in particular Silver, tungsten, or molybdenum, too, to increase the hardness and an even more alloy to achieve lower alloying ability with iron. All of these attempts have so far but did not produce entirely satisfactory results. Either a high hardness was achieved, but not sufficient Conductivity, or in those cases where both have sufficient hardness as well a sufficient conductivity was obtained, the price was so high that a economic exploitation could not be thought of.
The invention is now proposed according to the electrodes from a homogeneous Manufacture of copper-silicon alloy, as it is used as a material for smaller switch contacts has already used; For the purpose for which the invention is aimed, there was now a special feature that the alloy in addition to a high hardness and a sufficient conductivity an extraordinary has little ability to alloy with ferrous workpieces. It can therefore such-e Electrodes are used instead of copper electrodes, as they are only insignificant are more expensive than these.
4·>Alloys with a silicon content of up to 4.5% are particularly suitable. To manufacture this alloy, it is advisable to use electrolytic copper and 500% pure silicon copper as raw materials and, if necessary, to keep away other additives. 4 ·>
