Description
It is known that the electric arc produced when the electrical current is interrupted to be destroyed by so-called horn spark gaps. Here the arc moves due to the electrodynamic effect up on the horns and is thereby drawn out until it breaks off. For the This arrangement cannot be used for interrupting large outputs, because this is the case here drawn arc assumes an expansion that is out of proportion to its size of the apparatus is standing, making the arrangement unusable in practice. The invention shows an arrangement in which a drawing of the interruption arc even with high powers to a limited extent Space is possible. Here is the one that is generally known for electrical switches Order to blow the break fire into a chimney, application. The usual one up to now The shape of the chimney is not enough, however, to cope with the electric arc that occurs with high power safe to destroy. According to the invention, the spark chimney is therefore subdivided by a helical insulating wall and this insulating wall is arranged around the one rod-shaped contact, that the one base point of the arcing caused by interruption the magnetic bubble is forced to move in the manner of a helix on the To move rod-shaped contact while the other arc base maintains its position. The base points of the arc arise either through the melting of a fuse or through the opening movement of a circuit breaker, whereby in the latter case, the base point of the arc, which maintains its position, moves on the movable one Contact is located.
One of the possible embodiments is shown in the figures. In this case, the arc that occurs when a fuse is destroyed is to be destroyed. α is the fuse, which is arranged at the foot of a spiral-like insulating wall b . The insulating wall b is enclosed by the housing c , d and e are the poles of the fuse a. The pole e is enlarged by the bare conductor f , which is arranged in the middle of the helical insulating wall b . g are the turns of the coil that surround the housing c and accelerate the upward movement of the arc. If the fuse α melts , an arc H 3 arises whose one foot point remains at d , while the other foot point at e wanders along the conductor f , where it must follow the helical shape of the insulating wall b. The arc is drawn in a very limited space and breaks off after a certain length. Instead of the fuse a , the interruption contacts of a switch, the horns of a spark gap ο. like. kick.
