A heat exchanger includes a pair of header pipes (2, 3), a plurality of heat transfer tubes (4), and a desiccant container (18) containing a desiccant (12) inserted into a header pipe (3). The desiccant container (18) is formed as a tubular body having an opening (19) which extends continuously in the longitudinal direction of the body over the entire length of the body.
