Abstract

The process is used to suppress flame and pressure fluctuations in a heating system which has a burner (1) in order to generate a flame (2), which is directed towards a combustion chamber (3). A fluid (11) is fed into the chamber, so that it enters from the outside in order to form vortices (7) in the outer region of the flame. The fluid may be supplied continuously, and may also be distributed uniformly around the circumference of the flame. The fluid may be a gas, and may have a fuel content and temperature which keeps the mixture of fuel, air, and gas which is formed in the vortices, outside the ignition limit which depends on the temperature and fuel content.
