Abstract

The invention concerns a method and device for detecting incipient fires in rooms or electronic apparatus. In order to detect a fire parameter, samples of air from the room or of apparatus-cooling air are continuously fed to a detector (1) via at least one feed pipe (15) which is disposed in the room to be monitored or on or in the apparatus to be monitored and comprises a plurality of intake apertures (18). An evaluation unit, which is electrically connected to the detector (1), emits a signal according to predetermine criteria when the detector (1) detects a fire parameter. According to the invention, in order to adapt the effective cross-section of the intake apertures to the different requirements of the room-protection and apparatus-monitoring systems, a foil (16) is bonded over each of the intake bores (10), which form the intake apertures (18), in the feed pipe (15), the foils comprising a punched hole (21) such that the hole (21) is aligned with the intake bore (10) in the feed pipe (15), and such that the diameter of the holes (21) in the foils (16) reduces the effective cross-section of the intake apertures (18).
