Abstract

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing hollow profiles of undetermined length, preferably for packaging purposes, from flexible flat material such as paper, cardboard, corrugated cardboard, ribbed cardboard. The method according to the invention is characterised in that two webs of material (5, 6) are provided continuously in their longitudinal direction with two bending grooves (9, 9a; 12, 12a), the spacing between the bending grooves on the one web of material, corresponding to double the material thickness, being smaller than the spacing between the bending lines on the other web of material, in that the two lateral legs (5a; 5b; 6a, 6b) are then bent up in relation to the central part to form a C-profile in each case, the two lateral legs of the two C-profiles in each case extending towards one another, in that the two C-profiles are then joined together simultaneously to form a rectangular profile (Figure 3), the lateral legs of the two C-profiles coming into contact with one another over a large area being joined together, in particular glued or bonded. According to this method, rectangular profiles or hollow-chamber profiles of quite random cross-sections are manufactured continuously from in each case two endless webs or rolls of material.
