Description
Flux and cleaning agents The invention relates to a flux and cleaning agent Cleaning agent for melting metals or alloys, with the cleaning agent Substances are already present in the cleaning mixture while others are cleaning themselves active substances or those whose presence in the metal is also desirable while the contact of the mixture with the melt form.
The cleansing agents that occur in statu nascendi in the melt Substances, e.g. B. phosphorus or boron, can be more easily absorbed by the melt, as if they were added in elemental form or as intermediate alloys. As a result, the effect is much more perfect, and it is easy to use and harmless.
While z. B. the addition of elemental phosphorus to molten metal so dangerous work is that it is preferred to use an intermediate alloy of Using copper or tin with phosphorus is making nascent Phosphorus in the desired amount within the melt itself according to the present invention safe.
The present also brings with it the homogeneity of the alloy Invention significant advantages.
With the addition of boron in elemental form or as an intermediate alloy there is a risk that nests of hard borides will form, which would impair the machinability of the cast produced from the alloy considerably complicate and him under certain circumstances make it completely unusable.
When using a cleaning mixture according to the present invention on the other hand, if boron unites at the moment of formation, i.e. in the molecular state, with the alloy components and thereby gives a homogeneous mixture with avoidance any annoying side effects. The amount and proportion of what is to be added The mixture and its components are based on the presence of oxides and other impurities in the metal or according to the amount of elemental boron or phosphorus. The amount of ferrocyanides is expediently adjusted so that after the reaction with the reducible phosphates or boron compounds still an excess is available. This excess is mainly used to remove unwanted oxides or other Impurities which have not been rendered completely harmless by phosphorus or boron have been reduced or removed. The quantities of the individual components can easily be determined by experiments in each case. So it has z. B. proven to be useful in bronzes for the development of a larger amount Phosphorus has to be taken care of, while with brass or nickel silver only smaller amounts be considered. If, on the other hand, one wishes to melt copper or nickel under Avoidance the hardening effect of phosphorus, so will one for one Addition of boron-developing mixtures instead of or in addition to those containing phosphorus develop, take care.
Proceed with the selection of the slag former to be used it is expedient in such a way that the mixture melts more easily than that to be poured Metals or alloys. Here, too, the relationships between the individual components can easily be determined by experiments and adapt to the types of melting process.
Beispiel i.-Zum Schmelzen einer Bronzelegierung setzt man z. B. ein Gemisch zu,. bestehend aus 5 Teilen Ferrocyannatrium, 3 Teilen Calciumsuperphosphat und g2 Teilen Schlacken-Bildnern.Example i.- To melt a bronze alloy, e.g. B. a Mixture too ,. Consists of 5 parts of ferrocyan sodium, 3 parts of calcium superphosphate and g2 parts of slag formers.
B. 3 Teile Ferrocyannatrium, i Teil Superphosphat, i Teil Borsäure mit 95 Teilen Schlackenbildnern. .Example e For the melting of copper or nickel one uses a mixture, for example of 5 parts of ferrocyan sodium, 3 parts of borax or boric acid and 92 parts of slaggers. `Example 3 Used for brass or nickel silver a mixture, such as. B. 3 parts ferrocyan sodium, i part superphosphate, i part Boric acid with 95 parts of slag forming agents. .
