Abstract
In order to switch a switch latch in a fitted installation switch, which switches off in the case of excess current, of electrical low-voltage distribution devices, especially in motor protection switches, means for manually switching off and for automatic tripping are arranged between a board and a chamber (12). For manually switching off, the switching-off force generated on a switch lever is transmitted onto a step (84) of a slide element (52) which can move in the direction of a ratchet element (44), until a ratchet lug (20) unlatches from the pivoting ratchet element (44) and is opened in a sudden manner by means of stored spring force. For automatic tripping, a trip ratchet (60) is pivoted by means of thermal or electromagnetic forces, until its tab (68) rests close to a tab (70) of a ratchet (44), which permits a pivoting movement of the ratchet (42) which is tensioned by spring force. This pivoting movement is transmitted to the ratchet element (44), as a result of which the ratchet lug (20) unlatches. The electrical contacts of the fitted installation switch are opened suddenly in the case of manual and automatic tripping. <IMAGE>
