Electric switch Electrically powered devices for household and commercial use are getting smaller and smaller. This means that there is less and less space available for the switches. It is therefore advantageous if the device can be switched on and off with one and the same switch and is also protected against overload. The electrical switch according to the present invention makes it possible to fill these two functions and thus save space and assembly costs.
The electrical switch according to the invention is provided with a movable axis as a carrier of the Actuating device and is characterized in that a part acting on the switching mechanism is pushed away from the center of the axis by a body located on the axis and at least when switching off Hand returns to the original position by spring force as soon as the body on the axis releases the way to it.
In the accompanying drawings, two single-pole motor protection switches with thermally delayed over current release are shown in the off position as an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
A switch with a rotatable axis is shown in Fig. 1 in cross section along the line I-1 of Fig. 2, in Fig. 2 in a side view partially in section and in Fig. 3 in plan view.
Fig. 4 shows a similar switch, but with an axially displaceable axis.
The rotatable axis 1 carries the rotary knob 2 as an actuating member at the front, and the cylindrical body 3 is attached further to the rear. The acting on the switching mechanism part 5 is located with the before jump 6 in the recess 4 of the body 3, as long as the switch is in the off position. To switch on, the shaft 1 together with the body 3 is rotated with the rotary knob 2. Due to the increasing radius of the body 3, the nose 6 of the part 5 is pushed away from the center of the axis, against the force of the spring 7. The part 5 rotates around the bearing point 8 and switches the switch on via the tabs 9.
The circuit is via the connecting terminal 11, the bimetal lamella 12 provided with a heating coil, via the flexible connection 13 and the protective con tact 14-14 'to the connecting terminal 11'.
When the axis 1 continues to rotate, the almost constant radius of the body 3 no longer affects the switch, and other elements located in the rear part 18 of the switch can be operated. For example, additional contacts can be available for changing the direction of rotation, star-delta connection or for auxiliary circuits, a variable resistor or purely mechanical parts can be operated.
The different switch positions can be written on the scale 19: If the current flowing through the switch is too great, the bimetal lamella 12 bends outward and disengages from the lever 15. Under the pressure of the spring 16, the contacts separate 14 and 14 'and the power is interrupted. As soon as the rotary knob 2 is turned back into the zero position, the entire mechanism can return to the original position shown in the drawing under the influence of the spring 7.
Likewise, the mechanism returns to the original position when the rotary knob 2 is turned back to the off position from the switched-on position (s) of the switch. If necessary, there can be several off positions.
In the switch shown in Figure 4, the push button 22 as the actuating member, the axis and the conical body are made as a single piece. By pressing the button 22 and moving it axially, the projection 6 of the part 5 is pressed out of the groove 23 and away from the center of the axis in order to engage in the less deep groove 24. As shown in Fig. 1 and described above, this turns on the switch. The springs 16 and 7 press so strongly on the front 6 of the part 5 that despite the spring 25, the button 22 is held in the pressed position.
If the overcurrent release responds as a result of excessive current and the switch switches off, the spring 16 no longer acts and the spring 25 has enough force to turn the button 22 back into the starting position. (A corresponding backward movement of the actuating element is also possible in a similar way with the switch with a rotary movement.) The direction of movement of the button 22 could also be reversed, i.e. pulling could cause it to switch on and a push to switch it off.
The rotating and sliding movements of the axis can be combined in any way, e.g. Sliding movement to switch the circuit breaker on and off, turning to operate other elements, or both a rotary and sliding movement can be used to operate the circuit breaker.
If contacts in the rear part 18 of the switch are to be preselected de-energized, it may be desirable to only allow a rotary movement when the actuator is pushed in or. is pulled out. This can easily be achieved by a mechanical locking mechanism, not shown.
Of course, circuit breakers according to the invention can be designed not only single-pole, but also two-, three- or multi-pole. Instead of using an overcurrent release, they can, for. B. can also be equipped with a zero voltage release or just built as a simple ON-OFF switch.
