Description
Procedure for. Increase in the differences in brightness in single-lens reflex images Images to be projected in incident light with a reflective surface of the image carrier are already known.
In these pictures, e.g. B. Photos, get the striking Light rays only where the layer material (gelatine) is glass = clear, unhindered onto the reflective image carrier surface from which it is directed into the eye or Objectively reflected. These are the brightest parts of the picture while The black silver grain embedded in the layer reduced the light more or less absorbed and: represents the shadow and penumbra of the image.
It has now been shown that when viewing or projecting such Images the image shadows and penumbra are brightened, ad. H. that this Picture becomes dull. This brightening is due to the fact that the smooth surface the black parts of the image reflect part of the incident light rays in a directed manner.
According to the invention, this drawback is eliminated by the fact that the surfaces the silver-containing parts of the image are blunted or matted by a suitable process according to their silver content. This .image gradation according to matting the surface, the shadows and penumbra of the picture - causes an increase the differences in brightness, since the part of the incident light which is not is absorbed, ari diffusely reflected at these points and thus a noticeable Darkening of these parts of the image occurs. The non-silver parts of the picture do not experience any matting. The composition of the matting bath is a Subject of the invention in itself and need not be discussed here.
