Description
Process for the production of nuclear iodized carvacrol iodine substitution products of carvacrol, which contain iodine exclusively in the core and therefore still Remaining alkali-soluble have not yet been described.
It has now been found that such compounds can be obtained if you take Carvacrol with the usual agents for the nuclear iodination of phenols Treated using a maximum of 2 moles of alkali per 1 mole of Carvacrol. If you use more alkali than is necessary for the formation of the carvacrol salt is how the process proceeds Implementation in a different direction, and the well-known alkali-soluble ones arise Carvacroljo.di-de. Example i 75 parts of carvacrol are suspended in 100 parts of water and brought into solution by adding 55 parts of 36.6% strength sodium hydroxide solution. A solution of i27 parts of iodine and i 50 parts of sodium iodine is then left with stirring run in water in q, ooo parts. As soon as the implementation is finished, one treats with caustic soda to convert the resulting Jo.dcarvacrol into the sodium salt. After several hours, the insoluble precipitate is filtered off and acidified the filtrate with dilute sulfuric acid. That which exudes as dark oil iodcarvacrol is collected with ether and the ether residue is fractionated in a vacuum. The iodocarvacrol is obtained as one which boils at 17 ° to 72 ° under 12 mm pressure Liquid that solidifies to colorless crystals on cooling. After recrystallization from petroleum ether, the body shows a melting point of 60 to 63 °. The thus obtained 5-iodocarvacrol is soluble in alkali hydroxides and in most organic solvents.
A Dissolve 24 parts of sodium iodate in 150 parts by volume of distilled water and a solution of 77.5 parts of sodium iodide in 100 parts by volume of distilled water given. The resulting mixed solution is placed in ice and stirred continuously within 21/2 hours dropwise with a solution of 100 parts of pure sulfuric acid added in q, ooo parts of water. The temperature should not rise above 6 °. The acidic solution is made weakly alkaline with sodium hydroxide solution, filtered and that acidified filtrate etherified. After washing with sodium bisulfite, also with Sodium carbonate and distilled water, the ether is dried and earth-distilled. By distilling the ether residue in vacuo and recrystallization from petroleum ether the iodcarvacrol is obtained in crystals from 6.4 to 65 °.
Iodcarvacrol can also be used in a methyl alcoholic sulfuric acid solution Treating Carvacrol with Sodium Iodide Iodate Mixture.
The new iodized compounds are intended to be used as disinfectants Find.
