Description
Fiber For the insulation of conductors, especially those for large alternating current turbo generators, it was heretofore common to use an insulating material too use, for example, made of mica and a binding agent such as shellac or the like, duration. This actual insulation was then usually wrapped in a layer of asbestos and thereby strengthened. With such designs, however, flashovers often occur and similar destruction of the isolation is shown, for which at first there was no cause According to the invention, such damage can be found Avoid with certainty by covering the asbestos layer with any organic Phosphate of low electrical conductivity, such as tricresyl phosphate, impregnated is in such a way that the conductivity of the fiber is in the order of magnitude of the semiconductor lies. The elimination of the aforementioned disadvantages through the use of such Impregnation is explained by the fact that the mentioned flashovers can be attributed to it are that a certain low conductivity that the asbestos layers at normal Have temperature, with a heating of the asbestos layer approximately to 9o ° disappears. As a result, the asbestos layers and the mica insulation layers then form two capacitors connected in series that reduce the voltage drop between the winding and distribute the machine iron so unfavorably that first the asbestos layers as a result of the local warming during the spark formation, but then also the mica layers be punched through.
But because the asbestos layers with an organic phosphate are soaked, this remains a certain low conductivity - the resistance moves upwards in an order of magnitude of about zos ohm / cm3, i.e. in the order of magnitude of the division of so-called semiconductors - in the whole heat interval, which is practically possible when operating an electrical machine. Therefore, there are no more breakdowns on the winding insulation. For the Impregnation of the asbestos layers are particularly suitable from the organic phosphates those that have a boiling point over 150'C. So in the first place this is already coming called tricresyl phosphate, but also methyl, ethyl, phenyl and naphthyl phosphate in question.
The asbestos layer has particularly good properties if it is placed in front of the Saturation is subjected to a baking process through which the organic ingredients from the asbestos layer be removed if possible. These organic Components can produce harmful vapors at the machine's working temperature develop and char and can thus also be the cause of deterioration of the insulation and thus cause electrical breakdowns, especially since they are at lower temperatures absorb moisture from the neighboring air.
The baking process moves best in the temperature range of 3oo to 4oo ° C. The asbestos layers are best arranged so that between air can get everywhere, possibly in such a way that there is a circulation of air. The temperature is then - for example in any suitable oven - initially during half an hour slowly increased to 300 ° and then by 3 to q. Hours on kept this value. However, the temperature can also be set to any other value be held, but it is advisable never to exceed the value of 40o °, since this causes a deterioration in the strength of the asbestos material would.
After doing this the organic constituents from the material are removed, this is immersed in the impregnation liquid and then up to Leave saturation. Then you let the liquid drain off and then you can do that Wind material onto the insulated spools or conductors of the machine in the usual manner.
But you can also put the asbestos layer on the insulated coils wind up and only afterwards through a solution of the phosphate in a volatile Saturate thinners such as gasoline. The phosphate can also be used for this purpose Heating can be made liquid.
Due to the saturation with the phosphate, the fibrous material loses completely its hygroscopy. In addition, it also becomes considerably more plastic, soft and pliable and can therefore, best at a temperature of 100 to 30 °, excellently be wound onto the reels. The application of the inventive concept is limited does not refer to the exemplary embodiments mentioned. In particular, it extends also on any fibrous insulating material, such as linen, Cotton and the like to give a certain low conductivity, in particular, when it is a question of maintaining them in a large temperature interval remain.
