Description

Method for stabilizing rubber dispersions The invention relates to a method for stabilizing natural or artificial rubber dispersions and consists in that the dispersion with thorough stirring at not too high a temperature in the presence of finely divided, preferably colloidal, solid substances of inorganic Type, for example aluminum hydroxide, iron hydroxide, zinc hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, Silicic acid, barium sulphate, calcium carbonate and similar substances coagulating per se acting agents, such as acid salts, preferably aluminum chloride, are added.

Rubber milk preserved with NH3 is added with thorough stirring Room temperature with a solution of A1C13, the amount of which is greater than the equivalent amount of NH3 in the rubber milk. The addition of the A1 C13 becomes the electric charge of the rubber particles of the dispersion changed and moreover colloidal Al (OH) 3 is formed at the moment of its formation. The product obtained is more or less viscous and externally has the same consistency and appearance of whipped cream.

The products obtained according to the invention belong to a hay, hitherto unknown group of dispersions which have valuable properties. These valuable properties are due to the fact that the dispersoid after the treatment in the presence of finely divided substances in an equally fine distribution is like in the original dispersion. In contrast to an ordinary dispersion is the product obtained according to the invention against cooling even to freezing resistant. By thawing the frozen product, you get the original one State again. Finally, a dispersion obtained according to the invention can without harm with any amount of hard water, sea water, even with various diluted acids and acidic reacting substances, with semi-solid substances, cement mortar, Sorel cement, gypsum paste, lamp black and in general with chemical or physical acting fillers of any kind are mixed. The one obtained according to the invention stabilized rubber dispersion can be mixed with the usual fillers, Vulcanizing agents, vulcanization accelerators, dyes and the like are mixed become, which was previously often difficult with rubber milk stabilized in another way was because of the relatively large amount of fillers that to the Manufacture of most rubber items are used. In addition, when heated the mixture of rubber milk stabilized according to the invention with fillers Water for the most part is expressed and excreted, making one of the largest heretofore encountered difficulties in direct manufacture of molded rubber articles is eliminated from rubber milk.
