Description

Die bekannten Blumenkasten haben den Mangel, daß die Erde im Kasten schnell austrocknet und die Blumenpflanzen verwelken. Es ist deshalb öfteres Begießen erforderlich; einfache Blumenkasten können aber dort nicht Verwendung finden, wo das Begießen nicht alle Tage möglich ist, z. ao Der Blumenkasten besteht aus einem Behälter α für die Erde und einen Behälter b für das Wasser. Der AVasserbehälter b besitzt eine luftdicht abzuschließende Füllöffnung c, ein oben einmündendes und außen kurz über dem Boden des Blumenkastens ausmündendes Luftröhrchen d und eine kleine Ausflußöffnung e am Boden neben der Röhrchenausmündung. Aus dieser Auslauföffnung e fließt das im luftdicht verschlossenen Wasserbehälter b eingefüllte Wasser in den Boden des Erdbehälters a, bis der Wasserstand die Höhe der Ausmündung des Röhrchens d erreicht hat; der Luftzutritt zum Wasserbehälter b und somit der Wasserausfluß aus der Ausflußöffnung β wird dadurch verhindert. Der Boden des Erdbehälters α ist mit einer porösen gitterartigen Einlage g ausgefüllt, die das Wasser einfließen läßt und dieses auf die daraufliegende Erde überträgt. Durch Sinken des Wasserstandes wird die Ausmündung des Röhrchens d wieder frei, es beginnt wieder der Luftzutritt zum Wasserbehälter b und der Ausfluß des Wassers. An der Stelle der Ausmündung des Röhrchens d und der Ausflußöffnung e ist eine Abgrenzung/ vorgesehen, die das Verstopfen der öffnungen durch die Erde verhindert. Der Wasserbehälter b kühlt gleichzeitig die nebenanliegende Erde und verhindert eine allzu große Verdunstung.ao The flower box consists of a container α for the soil and a container b for the water.
