A cutting insert for use with a rotary milling cutter tool and having at least one cutting edge which comprises a plurality of successive component cutting edges (17A,17B,17C) and intermediate edges (19,21) respectively located between successive component cutting edges; successive component cutting edges overlapping during a milling operation; successive component cutting edges being substantially located on a curved envelope defined by the rotation of a generator about a rotational axis of said insert, said generator being substantially coplanar with said rotational axis. <IMAGE> <IMAGE>
