Die Grundstoffe zur Herstellung von Filtern, z. B. Quarz und Korund, werden nicht mehr durch mechanisches knetendes Mischen mit dem Bindemittel vereinigt, wie oben angedeutet, sondern nach dem neuen Verfahren werden die Grundstoffe vor dem Formen und Brennen mit einem leicht sinternden, fein verteilten Bindemittel überzogen. Dieses Bindemittel von glasurartiger Zusammensetzung muß in äußerst feiner Aufschlämmung vorhanden sein, so daß nur ein Hauch an den Grundstoffen (Körnern) haftenbleibt. Erreicht wird dies dadurch, daß das körnige Ausgangsmaterial in das aufgeschlämmte Bindemittel, das z. B. aus einem Gemisch von Feldspat und Kaolin u. dgl. besteht, getaucht wird. Dies geschieht auf folgende Weise: Die Grundstoffe von geeigneter Korngröße werden lose auf ein feinmaschiges Sieb geschüttet und mit diesem in die Aufschläminung des Bindemittels getaucht. Nach dem Eintauchen läßt man den Uberschuß an Bindemittel ablaufen, gegebenenfalls unter Schütteln oder Schleudern. Die ganz gleichmäßig überzogenen Körner können nun in Formen eingestampft oder auch gepreßt werden, um hierauf gebrannt zu werden. Beim Brennen sintern die Körner an ihren Berührungspunkten zusammen.
