Description
Process for the preparation of glutamic acid from molasses mash Die previously known processes for obtaining glutamic acid from molasses are based primarily on the transfer of the glutamic acid contained in the stillage into glutamic acid hydrochloride, which is sparingly soluble in saturated hydrochloric acid. The main difficulty the method of this type is based on the fact that the glutamic acid hydrochloride only in concentrated solution is sparingly soluble in saturated hydrochloric acid, a condition which is only reflected in the large amount of other organic substances in the stillage difficult to meet. Other procedures published in the literature, in part also aim at the separation of the free glutamic acid from molasses liquor also with the verification that it is also with the strictest observance of the regulations it is not possible to obtain glutamic acid on a large scale from the molasses liquor.
The present invention now provides a method that is actually technically feasible, provides a good yield and above all runs smoothly and safely with regard to the chemical reaction. The invention is based on the fact that, as before, an organic or inorganic must be added to the molasses liquor Acid (gaseous or dissolved) is added, the acidity of which is greater than that of the Glutamic acid, but in an amount that reaches a hydrogen ion concentration which on the one hand is greater than the sum of the weaker ones present in the stillage Acids up to and including glutamic acid, on the other hand less than the sum all organic acids contained in the stillage, so that the added Acid cannot occur as free acid or this limit is not significantly exceeded will. So far has never been worked in this way, and also in the literature has not yet been pointed out anywhere. Extensive tests have shown that only then is it possible to use glutamic acid without any difficulty in the big win.
The method is further characterized in that the temperature stops when the acid is added to the vinasse, in which the glutamic acid in freedom is set without forming salts with the added acid. Through trials is found that the temperature in the strong buffering of the molasses mash for different acids must be measured differently.
In addition, for the purpose of -precipitation of the glutamic acid to the vinasse, give such solvents during or after the addition of the acid in which the Glutamic acid is insoluble or sparingly soluble. Here is also The decisive factor is the amount of solvent, which is measured in such a way that one just the glutamic acid wins as a fraction.
B. i q. Example i In a molasses mash, the sum of all is first of all bound organic acids determined. Has one z. B. i q. % (calculated as free acids) found, 25.4 kg of hydrochloric acid at 20 ° B6 are added to 100 kg of molasses mash Stir, with simultaneous cooling because of the exothermic heat below i2o °. The test shows that there is no free hydrochloric acid yet. The mixture is left to stand for a while, after which the glutamic acid crystallizes out. The recovery and separation of the alkali chlorides which have also separated out is carried out carried out according to known methods.
In the molasses slurry previously investigated as in Example i if 1q.% free acids were found on 100 kg molasses mash 28.7 kg hydrochloric acid from spec. Weight 1.142 while stirring while cooling to below 120 ° admitted. After further cooling to temperatures below 8o °, 9o 1 Alcohol added. Alkali chlorides and glutamic acid can be the same in this solution are precipitated in fractions, or both are allowed to crystallize together and separates the glutamic acid using a known method.
