Description
Process for the preparation of purified sulfonic acids from mixtures of the crude naphthasulphonic acids or their salts and crude aromatic sulpho fatty acids It is known that sulfoaromatic fatty acids as well as sulfonic acids are made up of various Hydrocarbon oils (e.g. from naphtha, peat, lignite or shale oil distillates) are obtained in the form of free acids or their alkali salts detergency and Emulsion properties. In technology, such sulfonic acids are not pure Products, but always contain a significant amount of other substances, which reduce their washing and emulsion properties. So contain sulfoaromatic Fatty acids that are known on the market under the name "Twitchell Reactive", only about 50% aromatic hydrocarbons and other sulfonic acids, oxystearic acids and other fatty acids. In addition to water and sulfuric acid, naphthasulfonic acids contain up to 2o and more percent mineral oils. As a result of the emulsifying and dissolving Properties of these sulfonic acids is their purification from these admixtures with associated with great technical difficulties.
The present invention is the production of a new, emulsifying and sulphonic acid product, which can be cleaned by cleaning a mixture of crude naphthasulfonic acids or their alkali salts and unpurified aromatic sulfo fatty acids and which has particularly high emulsifying, Has grease-splitting and washing properties. It was found that you can get this Products can be obtained in a pure state without the above-mentioned admixtures, if a mixture of crude, unpurified, sulfoaromatic fatty acids with crude naphthasulfonic acids or subjecting their salts to a purification. Such a mixture can be made with mineral acids or alkali salts are more easily salted out and have a less dissolving property as separately aromatic sulfofatty acids and naphthasulfonic acids. In this way more favorable conditions are created for the removal of admixtures and for the preparation of a mixture of naphthasulphonic acids and sulphoaromatic Fatty acids or their salts in the pure state. This is achieved by means of successive Washing the mixture with water and alkali salt solutions to remove the sulfuric acid and to remove the aromatic sulfonic acids completely and then with ethyl alcohol or Acetone to make up most of the mineral oils, the oxystearic and other fatty acids to be eliminated. The watery one is used for the complete separation of organic admixtures Alcohol or acetone solution of naphthasulphonic acids and sulphoaromatic fatty acids extracted with gasoline, petroleum or other solvents insoluble in water.
Processes for separating crude naphthasulfonic acids are also known off by sulfuric acid processed naphtha distillates directly with alcohol or acetone or first with water and then by de-oiling the aqueous. Dissolution of sulfonic acids with alcohol. Sulphonic acids are made from sour goudron extracted with hydrocarbons, just like the naphthasulfonic acids from sulfonated mineral oils or ceresin separated by water and absorbed by heavy hydrocarbons by extraction with gasoline or other volatile Cleaned with solvents. The separation of naphthasulfonic acids is also known from sulfonated mineral oils with lye, followed by the lower lye from absorbed oils is cleaned with alcohol and the free naphthasulfonic acids with mineral acids deposit.
Finally, there are also processes for the production of alkali salts of naphthasulfonic acids by processing the waste eye available from mineral oil refining with alcohol by washing with 500% sulfuric acid and neutralizing with sodium carbonate known.
The subject of the invention differs from what is known especially in that as a starting material for the production of the end product a Mixture of crude sulfuric acid and unrefined aromatic sulfo fatty acids uncleaned base liquors obtainable from mineral oil distillation or raw Naphthasulfonic acids is taken, which z. B. by washing the sour goudron with alkali salt solutions, etc., such as the purification method of such Mixture differs from the known in that an extraction aqueous alcoholic solutions of sulfonic acids by volatile solvents and non-aqueous solutions are used. Example i 7o parts of oleic acid and 3o Parts of naphthalene are mixed in the cold with 150 parts of 66'B6 sulfuric acid. To the mixture are zoo parts of the sodium salts of the sulfonic acids that are used when washing with alkali of a solar oil distillate of naphtha after its processing with fuming sulfuric acid was added; they usually contain about 550 /, actual sodium sulfonates and about 45% water and naphtha hydrocarbons. After thorough mixing, the mixture is made with twice the amount of water diluted and left to stand at 8o to xoo ° C. The stale bottom layer what sulfuric acid. is removed, but the upper one, which contains naphthasulfonic acids and contains sulfoaromatic fatty acids, will completely remove the sulfuric acid and the aromatic sulfonic acids washed with an aqueous saline solution. Then xo parts by weight of ethyl alcohol are added, the largest amount of the Mineral oil is deposited, the mixture is diluted with qo parts of water and is extracted successively with petroleum, heavy and light gasoline to obtain the to remove fatty acids contained in the sulfonic acid solution. That way obtained sulfonic acid solution is, if necessary, dissolved from that in the same Gasoline, alcohol and most of the water by evaporation or distillation freed. Example 2 70 parts of oleic acid and 30 parts of cresol are mixed with 150 parts Sulfuric acid, spec. Weight 1.8q., Under conditions of the production of the so-called Twitchell Reactive, which are described in patent specification 114 491, processed. The reaction products are then mixed with zoo parts naphthasulfonic acids, which is obtained by washing with an aqueous saline solution of acid resin were, which z. B. when cleaning a solar oil distillate from naphtha forms with fuming sulfuric acid. The mixture is then used to remove the Sulfuric acid from the same with water and an aqueous solution of common salt or sodium sulfate washed and then diluted with water or alcohol; the separated mineral oil is removed and the residue becomes the fatty acid and other organic admixtures deposited by extraction with petroleum or other solvents.
The sulfonic acids produced on the basis of the process described do not contain any mineral oil or other organic additives and can They are used in the free state as well as in the form of salts, instead of of soap in the household and in the textile industry, in the manufacture of disinfectant detergents in a mixture with phenol or naphthalene, when washing wool, in the leather industry, for the hydrolysis of fats, etc.
