Description
Method for drawing a glass ribbon The invention aims at the machine Production of flat glass panels by pulling a glass ribbon from the free surface the molten glass mass.
So far, this has been done in such a way that the distance between the bottom of the port or pull-up vessel and the surface of the glass mass, d. H. the position of the glass mirror relative to the pulling device was kept constant by constantly let new glass flow into the draw container in a constant amount. this but requires large amounts of glass that are made available for the actual manufacturing process must be, and those, since they are not constantly at the same temperature and the same Condition can be preserved that give rise to errors that are as quality defects.
To those caused by the availability of such large glass masses To prevent inevitable mistakes, attempts have also been made to melt in the port Glass, i.e. special quality glass, straight from the port in which it was melted or to draw from special draw containers, with the disadvantage of permanent new beginning of a glass panel and the associated inevitable loss accepted.
It turned out, however, that usable glass panels could not be produced because of the constantly changing distance between the glass surface and the Pulling device, even if a fixed pulling device is arranged the sinking of the glass level in the drawing vessel determines the width and thickness of the excavated The ribbon of glass was constantly changing.
According to the invention, these shortcomings of the previously customary methods are now addressed be remedied, namely, that one once the filled port or pulling container during the drawing process does not supply any amount of glass, so that the glass ribbon produced is formed only from the contents of the port or pulling vessel and further that one is the distance between the free surface of those in the port or pulling vessel Glass melt and the actual pulling device, especially the bottom one with the Glass ribbon coming into contact with the pulling roller pair of the pulling device by relative Movement of the drawing vessel and the drawing device to each other, so either by uniform lifting of the drawing vessel or by uniform lowering of the drawing device, remains the same for the entire duration of the drawing process.
The drawing illustrates in Fig. I to 3 two embodiments a device serving the new method according to the invention.
As can be seen from Fig. I and a, the glass ribbon is formed a port filled with glass g for use, which is on all sides closed is and has no inflow. This port g is below the pull shaft z attached to a glass drawing machine. From the glass mass, the glass panel becomes known Way excavated and guided between the rollers d of the pulling device. With the Lifting the glass panel would of course lower the glass level in the harbor and with it the height dcl become smaller and the height w1 larger. A change in height w1 but would affect the course of the drawing process and the nature of the glass panel be of importance, it is therefore proceeded according to the invention so that the distance is always kept constant during the drawing process. This is done according to the invention achieved in that z. B. the glass port with the mediation of a lifting device i is lifted evenly. Fig. I shows the port in the initial position and Fig. 2 the port in its upscale. Position. As can be seen from Fig. A, the height is W2 has remained the same as the height wI, while the height hl has decreased. In the Execution farm according to Fig.3, the same purpose is achieved in that the port g remains at rest while the draw shaft z downwards at a steady rate is lowered. Here, too, the height w3 remains constant, while the height lt 'decreases.
